Guest janainaz
We used Rod and Staff English 5. Did you use the FLL curricula up to that point? I just grabbed my TWTM book to see what is recommended. It seems there is SO much more to cover and I don't know where I've been :tongue_smilie: - I assumed there was another FLL waiting. I need something that is scripted and is teacher-friendly. How is Rod and Staff English 5 layed out? Would it flow from where we are ending? -Is the Rod & Staff English 5 book called "Following the Plan"? Brenda in FL
We'll also be going into Rod and Staff 5. In fact we were already using it for my oldest because FLL 3 and 4 were not published then. We are using all of FLL for the other two kids. It is possible to use Rod and Staff orally, many do. But my 6th grader is using it mostly independently. I have him do the worksheets rather than the class or written exercises in the text. I also use Rod and Staff for writing along with any writing done in history/literature/science. I think it transitions well from FLL - some of the definitions are a little different but not enough to throw the student.
Kim in SouthGa
I've heard a lot of good things about Growing with Grammar. We will probably go on to Junior Analytical Grammar. My 5th grade dd used it this year, and my oldest son completed it when he was in 4th/5th. I really wish there was another FLL--it is so nice to have everything in one book. With my dd this year, we have added dictation and copywork, poetry memorization, and literature summaries. It does bug me a bit that JAG doesn't cover punctuation and capitalization, but I think with the foundation from FLL we can just reinforce those concepts with the copywork and dictation.
