Daisy
I have it but we decided to do Training Hearts, Teaching Minds first. It seemed a little easier for our son to understand. Big Truths for Young Hearts says ages 9 and up and I'd be inclined to agree with that or even bump it a little higher. My 10yo dd could handle it but I'm not sure her brother will be able to at that age. Each reading is about 3 pages in length and fairly tiny print. It is followed by some discussion questions and a memory verse. For all he says about how he taught his children doctrine through story-telling, I'm not seeing much of that. The format seems more along the lines of here are my 4 points and now I'm going to tell them to you...
LNC
We're using Grandpa's Box now, then Training Hearts Teaching Minds next year - which looks drier. I plan on getting Big Truths for Young Hearts eventually. I'm glad to have read a review of it, bc we include oiur special don in our devotions and prioritize his attention level. He has loved the four books by Susan Hunt but we have done them over and over! He has also enjoyed hymn bios by Joni Erikson Tada.
Lizzie in Ma
Read through it twice before moving on to Training Heart. My dd was 6 the first time and still at 9 will wistfully say, "Can we do it again?"
