Miss Marple
My sons are participating in our co-op's play - a western melodrama - and I'm having trouble getting them into character. They are afraid to ACT! I've told them the whole point is to get the audience to laugh, so they should ham it up, but they just can't get it.:glare: They *think* they are expressive, but they are really quite flat. I need some *good* online video clips to show them so they will understand that they really need to OVER ACT. I'm also open to renting any videos that might be available easily (Blockbuster, etc.) if you have any suggestions. TIA
Denise in Florida
I don't know your kids ages or your preferences but if you want to show them expressive humor you could try Monty Python. My girls love them.

BikeBookBread
How about the "coming home blind" scene from "A Christmas Story"? Ralphie wearing blacked out glasses: "It was...... SOAP POISONING" Mom with back of hand to brown: "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH"
Rhonda in TX
Check youtube. I did a search on "melodrama theater" and came across this one. There are more.

Miss Marple
Yes! This is just what I had in mind. I even asked the boys if they remembered that scene. I think I'll re-rent it. Edited January 9, 2010 by CynthiaOK
Miss Marple
That's a great one! Thanks. I tried YouTube but must have not been using the right search words. I kept getting middle school melodramas in which the kids have the same problems my boys have:D Older kids or adults is certainly better.
