MommyX8
My 8th grade son needs something different for the rest of the year. I plan to have him do Apologia in co-op classes next year, so what should I do now?
Carol in Cal.
Real Science 4 Kids, Chemistry, Level II. It is perfect for 8th grade--not comprehensive enough for high school chemistry, but what it covers it covers very well. It has 10 lessons, but it is quite meaty. I think that you could easily spend 2 weeks rather than 1 week on some of them, to really thoroughly absorb the material. For supplementation, Tiner's "Exploring the World of Chemistry" is a good book. I think that it's not really at 8th grade level--more like 6th grade or so. But it covers the properties of the different families of chemicals pretty well, and so if your DS has not done a lot with chemistry in the past, it would flesh out RS4KII nicely.
