Annie Laurie
My kids are 9(ds) and 7 1/2(dd). We won't be starting for a couple of months yet, but my dd is advanced- she reads all the time and writes stories and poems in her free time, so I don't expect difficulties with it for her. She has watched some of TWSS with me and thinks Mr.Pudewa is so funny and is really looking forward to starting. So should we start with AFF or SWI A? AFF's topics just look fun but is it better to start with the structure of SWI?

calandalsmom
Go for Fun and Fascinating! It has great little source text blips and the structure is all there. I love it.

meet me in paris
It also depends if you want each lesson laid out for you. I think AFF is just like the history based writing lessons, where it's almost worksheet style until that first full draft is written. That format worked better for my dd11, but some people get bored and frustrated with it. SWI-A will give her the lessons directly from the dvd. If you sign up for the Yahoo user group, you can get a sample schedule of how to break down the SWI. Without it, it's easy to just keep going and going, which sometimes leads to overload. I'd go with AFF, but the workbook format doesn't bother us here. :)
Annie Laurie
Thanks all! The price tag of AFF is nicer too. :001_smile:
