LittleIzumi
They look similar--I just wish my Cuisinaire rods were segmented. Will they work anyway?
WishboneDawn
I think it would be a LOT of work to make them work. MUS uses the colours of the blocks, the fact that they're segmented and the negative space in them (they're hollow, like Lego). All things you don't have with cuisenaire rods. Frankly, I think the MUS rods are a great on their own. Our attempt at MUS didn't last long but my son still loves the blocks and drags them out to play with. They really are helpful... I'm kind of regretting selling them now.
Paintedlady
I don't think you can substitute for the MUS blocks. The colors of the blocks are important, especially early on, and everything else builds off it (no pun intended) ;), even in later levels like Epsilon/fractions and beyond. I've even been using them with Miquon on occasion. We do have cuisenaire rods but the fact that the MUS ones snap together makes all the difference.
