KIN Posted October 31, 2009 Share Posted October 31, 2009 My 7yo (almost 8) LOVES sports. We would like to get a magazine for each child for Christmas, and I was wondering what this magazine is like. We've only ever gotten the NWF (Ranger Rick, etc.) for our kids that don't have ads. What are the ads like in this magazine? Are the articles appropriate for kids? Anything else I should know? Tap Posted November 1, 2009 Share Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) They are VERY ad heavy, the issue I saw was almost 50% ads (yes, I counted). Sometimes, even the puzzles and games section were sponsored by a merchandiser. A crossword puzzle may be tied in with a movie and the search words are from the movie. :glare: Can you check it out at the library or the grocery store to see what you are getting before you subscribe. That being said, I didn't see anything inappropriate in it. It was PG material and written in a fun way. It was upbeat and encouraging.
