Cheryl in NM
I cooked scalloped potatoes and ham in the crockpot last night. I made the sauce with milk and added some cheddar cheese. I took it out of the crockpot at 10:30pm, but it was too hot to put in the fridge. Dh was supposed to put it in before he came to bed, but he forgot. So at 5:45am the very center of the bottom of the crock pot was warm to the touch, but the food was cool. I stuck it back in the crockpot, brought it up to a boil and cooked it for 2 more hours. What says the hive?

Tangerine
I would. So there you have it. Maybe you should make a poll and go by majority. :D
Cheryl in NM
I would. So there you have it. Maybe you should make a poll and go by majority. :D That's a good idea! Done. Dh's theory was that since the dairy in the dish was cooked it would be safe to eat. I did eat some and don't feel bad, but we'll see if I eat more! Dh says he's left it unrefrigerated before and eaten it with no ill effects, but he has a cast iron stomach!
Pretty in Pink
On the one hand you're talking meat and dairy left out for hours - probably not a good idea. On the other hand you're talking ham (with preservatives?) and you reheated to boiling - should theoretically kill any germs/bacteria, right? I'd probably feed it to my dog.:tongue_smilie:
LauraGB
I'd really want to because I hate to waste food, dislike peeling and slicing all those potatoes and I love scalloped potatoes, but with the milk, I don't think I would.
sassenach
I would eat it today, but I wouldn't save any leftovers.
