Pip
We have a 10x12 area rug in our family room. It is over porcelain tile. I cannot find a rug pad that size. The largest I found was 8x10. Do I need to get another one and cut it to make up the difference? How much smaller should the pad be than the rug? Should I use a special tape to piece the pad together? I always thought the pad helped cut down on wear by keeping the rung from sliding and thus preserving the backing, so I wasn't sure if the pad being 12" smaller all around would cause a problem as long as the rug is stable. Jan in SC
Can you go to Home Depot or Lowes and have a piece or carpet padding cut to your needed size? I think that is what I did.
In The Great White North
If all you want is the non-slip pad under it, just tape it together. I have and it works fine. If you want real carpet pad , because it is over hard ceramic tile, I second the Lowe's or Home Depot plan. Buy regular carpet pad, cut to size. I've had that too. It is much softer, but the carpet will stick up enough to trip over.
