OnTheBrink
I realize math and English won't be able to be combined, but with science and history, what do you use? I'm trying to help a friend (I've posted about this before, but now she's not sure she wants computerized curriculum, so I'm trying to help with non-computerized stuff). Anyway, she has 4 kiddos, one will be in K, one in 5th and one in 7th (and one who's a toddler). I suggested, for sake of time, to combine the 5th and 7th girls, but I'm not sure what to suggest. I think TOG is out of the question for them. I think it would be too overwhelming for this particular family. The mom tends to like structured, more textbook-like materials. Any suggestions? TIA! Heather in OK
I school my 2nd, 4th, and 6th graders together for: - Bible - History - TruthQuest - Geography - Galloping the Globe (last year we did the States w/ the Trailguide) - Art - Art in Story - Science (well, actually this year the older two will be together and the youngest on her own with me) - Christian Kids Explore books I realize none of those are textbook-like but it's at least an idea of how I group them together and what is used. :)
ncmomo3
In the past I have combined those ages with Christian Kids Explore...science series and it worked very well.
Amy in MI
She could use Sonlight for both history and science. I have combined these subject for my girls and they are 3 grades apart. It has worked well for us.
OnTheBrink
Do you buy separate books for each child? Would both kids need their own copy of the CKE books? I'm going to talk to my friend about veering from textbooks for history and see if she'd be interested in something like TQ. Thanks!
Donna A.
My Father's World is intended to be done all together, except for the K student's phonics/learn-to-read program, of course. And naturally everyone does math and LA at their own level.
