  1. We live in Michigan and this my husband is routinely detained and searched when he has to cross the border to visit the Canadian branch of the company he works for. He is not actually doing any work there, just attending a meeting or something, but he is always hassled. The last time they wouldn't let him in at all, got a pink piece of paper and was sent back to the US border, who of course searched him again because he wasn't let into Canada. He was so frustrated and the border agent was very rude to him. Amy
  2. 38, and she is such a blessing to our family. She is now 10 and my oldest of four is 22.
  3. I live in Livonia and while I'm sure the Marriott is nice, I wouldn't consider Livonia as a destination city (although we will have two Walmarts soon, LOL). I think the Henry Ford Musuem would be great, we have a membership there, but I think the Village is closed now except for it's Halloween in the Village weekends, which fill up really fast and require advance reservations. I think Frankenmuth would be a wonderful trip, or maybe closer to you would be the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo? if you haven't been there, my girls loved it. Also Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek is great and I think it stays open all year. Amy
  4. That was an insightful article. Thanks for sharing it. Amy
  5. I agree that she should honor the agreement. Last year my ds was a freshman and their rooms were set up so there were two bedrooms with two boys each and a common room. My sons roommate was actually having his girlfriend sleep over in the same room. He had to finally talk to his RA to get it taken care of because roommate was uncooperative. This year he opted to live in a different dorm that has separate rooms for each person, and a common area. I hope everything works out for her. It's so hard when they go away and then have trouble on top of it being their first experiance away from home. Amy
  6. We have female siblings who are almost 3 now and they get along great. We've had one by itself before, our sisters are much happier cats. Amy
  7. We don't watch many shows on Cartoon Network, but this is one that I allow. Seems pretty harmless to me, without the gross humor that goes along with many of the other shows on Cartoon Network . Amy
  8. My 13yo dd still enjoys American Girl and Webkinz. She also plays occasionally on Buildabearville. The one she particularly likes right now is called Neopets.com. Amy
  9. We used Core 6 this past year with dd 12 and dd 9. Some of the books I had my older one read, but not my little. Mary Bloody Mary, comes to mind specifically. We also had the Journey Across Time book that you mentioned using. We used it as a reference. Amy
  10. We started at the beginning of third grade. We used New American Cursive sold by Memoria Press, and it was a great introduction. Amy
  11. We use the Book of Time sold by Sonlight. It is just a notebook sized book, so it doesn't use up a lot of space. Amy
  12. She could use Sonlight for both history and science. I have combined these subject for my girls and they are 3 grades apart. It has worked well for us.
  13. We just finished Tuck Everlasting. I've been trying to decide what to read next. Amy
  14. My Costco Card has a picture of me on it, that has to be used whenever a purchase is made. I'm assuming your 14yo doesn't have one? I don't think you can use anyone elses. Amy
  15. We live in Livonia, which is a suburb of Detroit, but my inlaws live in Curtis. We are leaving tomorrow for a visit. We would love to move there sometime, but sadly no jobs are available right now. Amy
  16. We really enjoyed Moccasin Trail. We haven't read the other one. Amy
  17. Bewitched I Dream of Jeanie and my all time favorite - Lost in Space Amy
  18. All my children attended preschool at that age, and they all enjoyed it. I think it will be fine. Amy
  19. Driving up the coast of Lake Michigan is a wonderful trip, I would stop in Glen Arbor while visiting Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, then continue up the coast to visit Leland and Northport. Amy
  20. I have to second using Portrait Innovations if you have one near you. Both of my boys did standard graduation sittings at a photography studio. Each time I paid about $400 for their pictures. That was cheap compared to some of their friends, especially girls who had multiple outfit changes. I took my younger dd's in for school pictures at Portrait Innovations, it was just like the graduation photography studio, but cost a whole lot less. The photographers can move around with the camera like the pricey studio and you can change your outfit as many times as you like. They have a one pose special that is $9.95, I spent about $60 for both of my girls, and got many of the poses. HTH, Amy
  21. This vaccine was a requirement for my son who is living in the dorm this year. Amy
