mom31257
Does anyone know of good online resources for geography, including group games? I'm helping start a co-op and going to be teaching a geography class for early elementary (K-2). We're going to go "Around the World in 8 Weeks". We'll introduce geography terms, maps, and continents the first week, including Antarctica, then "visit" a continent each week, ending with Christmas around the world. I would like hands-on activities, but also, active games. We're going to have more boys than girls in the group. Thanks for any help! tinkgumby
I don't know how helpful this will be, but I hate for you to just have spam in your thread. :001_smile: Here are the geography links I have saved: http://www.rainbowkids.com/HTMLFiles.aspx?page=KidsActivities http://www.nationalgeographic.com/xpeditions/ http://www.mrsmcgowan.com/projects/flags/states_books.htm And here is a book that has file folder games that you can make - my kids really love them, and you can use them with a large group: http://www.amazon.com/Geography-Centers-Grades-Ellen-Moore/dp/1557999953/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1248662957&sr=8-1 Your class sounds like it will be fun! Maybe you could get some chalk and do a rough sketch of the continents and/or countries you're studying about and play hopscotch or something on them. ;)
