Susan in KY
I want to add plein air to our nature walks, and I've been thinking for some time about getting my kids portable watercolor sets with palettes that slide or fold out. The problem is that I don't know enough about painting to make sure I purchase a good one that's still reasonably priced. Any suggestions? keptwoman
I have a Windsor and Newton Cotman water colour set. It's not their artist series, but the next one down. Mine has 14 half-pans in it, you can get more pans to replace the ones that are there, and I actually have 3 extra half-pans that sit in the thumb bit when it's not being used. It's been really excellent for carrying around, the little half-pans last a long time, and unless you were doing a lot of watercolour I'd think they would be ample. Mine is the compact set pictured here: http://www.jerrysartarama.com/discount-art-supplies/Watercolor-Paints-and-Mediums/Winsor-and-Newton-Water-Colours-and-Mediums/Winsor-and-Newton-Cotman-Water-Colour-Sets.htm
Rosie_0801
If you go to an art shop they'll recommend "student" quality. That's what you're after. Rosie
