I will be teaching a science class in my co-op next year. I will probably have 10 kids. They will be in the 9-12 yr range. I want to do a simple dissection with them. I'm thinking a crayfish, earthworm, starfish, or grasshopper. Any thoughts? I want something that I can handle in a classroom, that is interesting and worth doing, and simple for this age range.

Earthworms were more interesting than I expected, and pretty easy to dissect. I missed grasshoppers, but my friends raved about them :). As I remember, starfish and crayfish were very difficult to cut, tough outer coverings.

Sounds like lots of fun! Wish I were there :)
