Homeschooling 2 of my children. 1 Third grade daughter, 1 First Grade son.
  1. I have purchased downloads from them and have not had a problem. Like you said in your posting they are away until I think the 17th so that might be part of the problem. I am sorry you are having problems but I am pretty sure she will be happy to resolve your problems when she returns if someone doesnot help you sooner. I know timing may be an issue due to the start of school. Don't give up I am pretty confident she will fix it for you. With her being in Africa this is a hard time to contact her directly. Hope this helps in some way. Lysa
  2. Thanks for the Spectrum recommendation. It looks like it might fit the bill. Thanks a lot! :)
  3. I could use some advice regarding my daughter who will be in 4th grade this year. She took a standardized test this past year and came up a little short in "word analysis" "Phonics awareness and decoding, identify and analyze word parts." What would you recommend me using with her to bring her up in this area. She loves to read and her reading comprehension is excellent. In second grade I did not do a phonics program with her due to her excelling in reading and I think this is the gap I am seeing now. We used Abeka in Kindergarten and 1st grade. I was thinking of Phonics pathways or something along that line. I would truly appreciate advice with this. I also have a son going into 2nd grade and will be doing phonics with him and I did not want her to feel like she was at his level, so I want to be mindful with what I use. Thanks for the help, Lysa:)
  4. I have timeline figures CD and I have the Early 19th Century in America. It is beautiful. She does a great job. The illustrations are very clear and realistic, well worth the money.
  5. Thank you so much for these Great ideas! I really do appreciate it!
  6. I am teaching a Literature/Writing class at our Co-Op next year and I had a question for you guys. I was thinking of doing some sort of newspaper with my class. I was thinking of incorporating reviews of the books we have read and assign different stories for the kids to write for the newspaper. I guess what I am looking for is any great ideas to make this come alive for the kids. Has anyone ever done a newspaper with a group of kids? The age of the group will be 4th and 5th graders. I would love some new ideas or any resources anyone has used. Any interesting websites? I appreciate the help. :)
  7. I have also been looking for writing ideas. One thing I came across was "Writer's Workshop" . It is by Maggie Hogan the creator of The Mystery of History. She was a speaker at our state convention and she was great. Her website is : www.Brightideaspress.com and the book is called Writer's Workshop. Hope this helps in some way.
