  1. My brother once worked in a dangerous steel plant. He lost part of his thumb on hi sright hand. for a while he could not use his right hand, and the healing process was frustrating. I heard rumors of how some of the guys had lost part of their hand or arm, and it was common to get injured. I was relieved when he no longer worked there. They had no union, and they gave these guys so much money depending on what body part was injured. Lawyers were never involved, it was obvious they took advantage of their workers.

Politicians and governments need to think long term- long term as in- what sort of a world do we want our great grandchildren to be born into- or their great grandchildren? They need to be visionary people of integrity, not short term thinkers.

I don't feel we have the right to dig up all the resources and sell them off and pollute the planet. It doesn't belong to us. It never did and it never will.

The problem is some people just do not care what sort of world is left behind. I once asked an eldery man if I could help him to recycle. His response was he was not going to be around so he should not have to be concerned. also when a customer inquired to a clerk about the difference between organic and non organic produce, she answered it was just more expensive. The sad truth is some politicians only care about money, not serving the public. We need sustainable resources that will not harm our environment.

  3. Spirulina will not cause weight gain. I would not use it as a sole source. Why do you need to raise your blood? Is it pregnancy, surgery, something else? Here are a few tips to help

2 Tablespoons of molasses in warm water once or twice a day

1 Tablespoons of wheat getm oil 2 times daily

8 oz fresh beet juice throught the day or if you prefer carrot beet & apple

wheatgrass juice once or twice a day

1 Tablespoon of supergreen food daily

    1/4 cup pumpkinseeds daily

I purchased the frozen cubed wheatgrass, and had someone bring fresh beet juice blend daily since I didn't have a juicer.

foods to add to your diet black grapes, spinach sparangly choose other greens instead, raisins, pumpkin seeds, wheat germ, lettuce, dandelion tea, nettle tea, asparagus, pomegranate, garlic, parsley(high in iron), watercress, dandelion leaves, green peppers, carrots, kale, black beans, blueberries, strawberries

foods to avoid pasteurized milk, cheese, coffee, tea, alcohol, white sugar, white flour, pork, canned food, smoked food, preserved food, processed foods, beef is good but it is better to eat mostly vegetables and fruit

supplements that are helpful kelp, raspberry leaf tea, wheat grass juice, and wheatgrass powder, super green powders, fenugreek, Garden of Life raw iron, Floradix iron, spirulina, food based multivitamin

If you are pregnant, I am assuming you are not pregnant since you mentioned spirulina. Some of these things mentioned are not ok for pregnancy. When I lost a lot of blood from a second trimester loss, the only reason I didn't get a transfusion is because there was a problem with the lab. They called the lab several times, but the lab did not understand they needed the blood now. The girl had a speech problem since she had a few teeth missing. They knew I didn't want a transfusion, but did allow me to go home provided I was not alone as if I fell or bruised myself I could bleed to death. I ate black beans almost daily with parsley. Also lots of homemade vegetable soup, and soup brooth. I took and squeezed an orange and mixed green powder with it. Vitamin C helps absorb iron. It is very important to have an extremely good diet not just take a supplement. Also it is important to just stand up and walk a bit to circulate your blood. I hope your blood is not too low that it causes a headache or dizziness, if so have someone hold your hand. Please let me know i fyou have more questions.

  4. I will post some tips tomorrow when my computer works. My blood was down to 5.9 before, 6.0 twice from pregnancies and I didn't get a transfusion. Wheatgrass is good to. Do not take calcium or eat dairy when you eat iron rich foods. Liver is not required. I do suggest pumpkin seeds and black beans. Will tell you more later. If you need to pm me. Also let me know if you have a juicer. Beet juice is excellent. Sorry can't tell more eat the moment.

  5. Oh yes we have lots of pets. Outside we have 11 hens, 1 dog, and 1 cat a strange put out. Inside we have 3 cats.

My brother whom did not homeschool has lots of pets. He has about 7 dogs, about 6 rats, several cats, a pet pig, a dozen chickens, a bird, and fish. He may have more that I forgot to count, he has also had goats in the past. His family truely loves animals. He was behind on the rabies shots on a few animals. A neighbor called several times because the dog barked when they rode the hore past his place. The police made several visits. The neighor kept on calling, and the last time they checked and took some dogs because their shots were not up to date. Since that, they ended up finding more dogs so they have plenty again. All his animals are sweet too. I stay away from the rats, I hate rats, no matter how sweet they are.

  6. Barbara Walters On national television stated she sat next to a mom breastfeeding her baby on a plane and it was gross. This was a few years ago. It was a very disrespectful comment to make. I think it is odd how women only breastfeed for 3 to 6 months, and don't make a commitment to stick it out. My kids lost interest at about 18 months. Also we delayed solid food. Mother's milk is all a baby needs until it's first birthday. Everyone parents differently. I think it is sad people want to shun babies doing what is the most natural thing in the world taking milk from their mothers.

  7. Yet another which math thread. We are finishing up Singapore NEM 1, and have decided to move in another direction. I can't decide between Chalk Dust Algebra and Lial's Algebra. Or should we do prealgebra? He excels in math, needs little to no help from a parent, and wants to be a architect. This is for 7th grade. Any and all suggestions would be helpful.

  8. Recently I saw some storage containers that had a seperate small compartment in the center for one of those freezer packs. They were for taking your salad, fruits, and veggies on the go. They were plastic and bpa free. I can not remember where I saw them. I do not think they were expensive. If you have any idea what I am talking about please post a link. I am racking my brain, and googling without success.

  9. Some states are having difficulty funding these programs. I think they can be benefical to some families. Sometimes the public school at home option may be the best option for a family. It may be the only way a family can school their children at home is by using these programs. There are different reasons to use the programs. I wish our state had more of these programs.

  10. Go out when it is windy, then you will not have to contend with mosquitos. Just make sure it is not so windy that you can't enjoy the outdoors. They prefer damp shady areas, so avoid those areas. If they are coming to you from other places, try to have some plants in your area that they hate like holy basil, marigolds, and mints. I prefer B&T SssstingStop or lavender essential oil for bites. They do make a powder that can be sprinkled on the ground to deter them, but it is expensive. Someone else already mentioned standing water. Hope this helps some.

  11. When I looked at the samples online I really liked it a lot. When I got it in the mail, I still liked it a lot. Unfortunately, it was not a good fit for my son. He needed something different. When I looked at his paper, I could not understand what he said. I knew what he was trying to say, but he did not put his words together on paper very well. He seems to do better with Classical Writing Aeson & Homer for older beginners.

  12. We chose whole life. First, you can get your childs life insurance fairly cheap compared to adult life insurance. You pay it for about 10 years and you are done. You child has this insurance policy, if they decide they want a better one than that, it is up to them to get it. Also, if someone develops health issues such as diabetes, when they go to get a new policy, the cost can be expensive. It is best to lock in a rate while a child is young. We don't know what the future holds health wise for our kids. Health concerns can cost someone a fortune when getting life insurance. My husband's policy is very expensive because he is diabetic, if we were to have to shop for a new policy, it would be much more expensive than it is now. Term may save money in the short term, but if you wish to save in the long run you should choose whole life. I am no expert, and experts may disagree. I know the rate for my family excluding my husband is affordable. I cringe every month when I pay my husband's life insurance, thinking of other ways the money could be spent. But I also know my mother, or brother didn't have life insurance and what a pain it was when they died. Their funerals were not free. I do not wish to burden my children like that.

  13. My oldest survived Iraq. He is now in the National Guard, and ROTC while attending school. He is going back into the service after he finishes school. I am proud of him. He prefers no one to make a big deal out of anything, so we don't. He likes for us to keep a positive attitude about it so we do. It is best you provide encouragement and support.

  14. Tired right now to say what I want to say. Hens make pleasant pets. We have 11 right now, our lakenvelder disappeared. We have several different breeds. Our rooster was not nice, so I gave him to my brother. My brother loves that rooster, but the rooster is mean to my sil and niece. Our buff orphington is named Butterscotch, the barred rock is named Zebra, all the girls have names. They seem to be happy girls. I just got close to 30 chicks last week. Butterscotch went broody, so we got her some eggs. Instead of sitting still, she played musical nest on us. By the time I noticed the eggs were cold. I got the chicks to share with my brother, so most likely I will give him most of them. I know I need to give my brother some of my hens, he will take good care of them, but we are so attached. The kids are able to hold the hens and pet them. Hens are great, ask my son, he loves them.

  15. Well I was just thinking about my sil. Although she did not homeschool, she was a stay at home mom for the most part, aside from jobs here and there. Once the oldest was grown, and the youngest in high school she took the plunge. She went to nursing school, graduated, and is now a nurse. I have great admiration for what she did. It was her dream for many years. Keep in mind she married at 16 and had a baby. She is still married to my brother after all these years. She did not mind at all that her classmates were younger, she is a very compassionate person. You have my vote to go back to school.
