  1. Laughing at this....I love my hats! My dh made the mistake of telling me I look cute in baseball hats years ago and now I've used that as an excuse all too often to throw one on when I don't feel like going through my "going out into public" routine. Glad I ran across this thread because it's reminding me of what I feel God has been gently "hammering" me about, too (as you said in one of your earlier posts). I think you should revel in the changes that God is taking you through. He made women beautiful (I believe the Hebrew word that is used for when He made Eve is different than the wording used for when He created Adam. It's a word that means "fashioned"). He made us to love beautiful things. He made men to appreciate the beauty and, obviously, your dh is pleased. Enjoy it. I believe you are honoring God and your dh (and yourself, as a human made in the image of God).
  2. Boiron Chestal Honey seems to get good reviews on vitacost and amazon. My friend said it worked very quickly for her father.
  3. I know this thread is a few days old, but I ran across it while doing a search for something else and I just had to respond. I didn't read all of the responses, so I could be repeating something already said... First of all, to the OP, I wanted to say that I, too, have been feeling a lot of the same things you are. Not to the extent of wearing dresses all of the time, but definitely understanding what you're saying about dressing in a more feminine way. I was doing a little "study" on the verses regarding modesty a few months back and found something that I thought was very interesting, yet not discussed much when the topic is modesty. I'm including a link for you to check this out yourself (below). The word used for modest in 1 Timothy 2:9 is kosmios and means well arranged, seemly, modest. I just thought that it was very interesting that well arranged and seemly (which means good looking, handsome, agreeably fashioned; attractive; conventionally proper) are definitions of this Greek word used for modest in the Bible. It seems that most Christians tend to only focus on the "You shouldn't wear this, this or this" part of the modesty issue, but fail to include that modesty also means to dress in a well arranged and seemly (attractive) way. Kind of like what the enemy did in the garden - leading Eve to believe that God was very restrictive by twisting God's words and failing to include the truth of all of the freedom that God had given to them in the garden. http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G2887&t=KJV Just wanted to throw that out there -- it was an eye-opener to me.
  4. That wasn't what I wanted to hear. :tongue_smilie: Thanks, anyway! ETA: I wasn't saying blah to your post like it was boring -- hope you caught what I was trying to say!
  5. Has anyone who is taking 5-HTP noticed that their nighttime teeth grinding has stopped? Just curious. Or, if anyone has any other recommendations for supplements, herbs, etc., I am all :bigear:. (I don't post much here -- just lurk occasionally and find that there is a wealth of knowledge on these boards about almost anything I need to look into further...) TIA!
  6. I wouldn't worry about getting jeans to fit your length, either....just go find some that fit everywhere else and have them hemmed with the original hem. Nice department stores will do this or you should be able to find a tailor/seamstress to do it for you. Or, better yet do it yourself and save $20. My sis has done several of her jeans like this and says it's very easy, as long as the jeans don't have a huge flared leg (even then, it's still do-able). Here's a link for instructions with comments from lots of people - some who barely know how to sew saying it was easy for them. http://www.daciaray.com/?p=38 I seem to find my best jeans at nice consignment stores in big cities or at Plato's Closet (don't know if you have something like that in your area).... Good luck!
  7. Sounds like you have a high metabolism. You're going to have to eat healthy, high calorie foods, like ones already mentioned (avocadoes, eggs, raw nuts, milk - preferably raw would be good, etc.). Lifting weights will add muscle, but if you have a high metabolism, it will just help you burn calories faster and you're still in the position of having to eat more calories. Enjoy your high metabolism!:001_smile:
  8. Ds, 12, got a Swiss Army pocketknife for Christmas. On the first box that he used his knife on to open, he is looking down at the box and says "What are those drops?"....closer inspection revealed that it was blood and somehow, on his first attempt at using the knife, he had cut himself. It wasn't a bad cut or anything, but my dh and I were second-guessing that choice as a gift!:tongue_smilie: So, he got an early lesson in why it's important to be very, very careful with them.
  9. because this was not my idea (if you know what I mean) and I am panicking a little bit about the whole thing.... :tongue_smilie: Have you had any trouble with yours? (As in repairs, etc.)
  10. Thanks, Cheryl -- did you guys get special helmets or protecting clothing to wear?
  11. Anyone have one? What do you think would be the minimum age someone could operate one? How dangerous are they? I need as much info as you can give me, please.... I can't seem to find a lot of info on the web about them, other than sites trying to sell them. Thanks
  12. Thanks, milovany (can't figure out how to do the accent! Maybe you can give instructions...) and others for your replies. Milovany, I remembered that you sold vinyl lettering and thought I could get a gift certificate for my mom - she is re-doing her bedroom and there's a phrase that she has wanted for a while. Can we set something like this up? Thanks!
  13. Wow! Thanks for that website. That certainly should cover all the details....LOL
  14. Looking for some reviews and feedback. What in the movie necessitates the PG-13 rating? Is there a lot of language? I think my son read that there was a very brief scene.... Thanks - just trying to figure out if this is something that we would possibly go see if we could exit the theatre for a brief scene.
  15. I picked some up on sale after Christmas last year for this coming Christmas. I've never used these before and I'm wondering if they'll do O.K. on textured walls. Also, I know it says they don't leave any kind of residue or take paint off when you remove them, but I'd still love some confirmation from others who can confirm this. Thanks! And, any other tips or suggestions on applying or removing them that you learned would be great as well....
  16. I fifth or whatever it is the sinus rinse - either a neti pot or NeilMed bottle. Do it a few times a day the first three or four days. If she's serious about getting rid of the infection, I'd strongly encourage her to get off of dairy for at least a week, take a good probiotic (we use Culturelle) and try to avoid as many sweets/junky carbs as she can. Going on antibiotics can sometimes create a cycle of more sinus infections. If she can attack the infection in a more natural way, it would be best. Sometimes antibiotics are needed, but then you will definitely want to get a good probiotic.
  17. just last week, my son was coming down with a sinus infection - it's easy to spot now - dark circles under the eyes, complaints of headaches, etc., he'd been drinking too much milk. Plus, he had to have a full mouth x-ray series done at the dentist and they said his sinuses were full. Made him do the rinse two to three times a day, no milk at all for a week and he's fine now. My husband also uses it during allergy season a couple of times a day. I believe since we discovered the sinus rinse method, we have not had to be on antibiotics for any kind of sinus infection. That's saying a lot from where we were a few years back.
  18. #3, except I would choose a dressy, nice-fitting pair of black pants that weren't shiny or flimsy. Just a nice blend with a nice weight to them. Pick a good pair and you can wear them all year long, almost. High heels. I love the look of pants with heels and a dressy top. With #1, even though I am petite weight-wise and height-wise, I would worry about the layers of the fabric "adding weight" to me. Oh, I just realized that one of the reasons I love pants with heels is it makes me look taller. So, if you're tall and self-conscious about that, you might want to avoid that look. Have fun choosing!
  19. I think that's part of the problem. I did not start out cooking the right things with my kids and now we're all suffering for it. So, I have some very picky kids who eat only the usual things - ugh. A big part of my challenge is going to be getting them to try and helping them learn to like new things. But, if it helps -- here are things they will eat. Steamed broccoli, fish, carrots, cauliflower, spaghetti and Italian-flavored meals; chicken, roasts, they're fine with garlic and basic spices. Like tacos, etc. O.K. Maybe they're not as picky as I'm making them out to be. To me, they are because I like variety in my food - I love Indian, Thai and just all kinds of flavors together. I'd like to incorporate more beans and more vegetables, but they tend to stick to the same vegetables (the broccoli, carrots, etc.) So, where do I start?
  20. the soaps sound nice and I'm sure you could use your imagination with scents, shapes, etc. Any other ideas?? Or good resources/magazines, etc. that always seem to have great ideas? I'm aware of the typical ones in the stores, but maybe there's one that's not well known that's great? (Again, looking for more modern ideas rather than country).
  21. but for others who might be following this thread, I saw an article in a magazine featuring the author of a cookbook called Mom-a-licious. The Amazon reviews look very good. I'm thinking of ordering two: either Simply in Season or More with Less and then either Mom-a-licious or the Ellie Krieger one.
  22. I have always loved the idea of making homemade gifts, but usually think of it two weeks before Christmas and by then, forget it. So, maybe I'm early enough this year? I'm thinking mostly something that my girlfriends, sisters, etc. would appreciate. I'd like something unique; I'm willing to put in a good effort if the finished product is nice (but not overly time-consuming). I like Martha Stewart ideas (but, man, some of the materials used in her crafts are so expensive that it would mean I'm actually spending more on a homemade gift than I would a bought one), stuff on etsy, etc. (not big into country). Any ideas or resources to point me to? I have basic sewing skills, am a very beginner knitter and that's about it. I can follow instructions well, but am not creative on my own. (What else do you need to know about me? LOL) ETA: I guess my title is a little misleading -- I'm mostly looking for something that isn't edible, but if there's a really good food-related idea, I'm open to that, too...
