  1. Just know that if you go to the rheumatologist you will probably be highly encouraged to take meds. Then if you take meds and change your diet, when you start feeling better how will you know what helped you?

Diet is crucial in how we (and our joints) feel. PLEASE try diet first.

The extra good news is it costs nothing to try.

  2. Do this for 30 days (be strict about it):

    1) Do not eat ANY of the nightshade vegetables (NONE)

    2) Do not eat anything made with refined SUGAR.

    3) Cut WAY down on any processed food.

Evaluate after the month is over. I would love to hear how you feel after that.

  3. Just skimmed the article but did watch the entire video. So very, very tired hearing about all the "inequality" as if we have to all make the same amount of money. It's just a basic economic fact that money makes money (compound interest, anyone?)

And in case that last woman didn't get the insult (Mr. Stats said to her after she unashamedly said she 'd like to live in the big yellow pie country, "In the off-chance you'd be in the yellow"), therein lies the biggest lie . . . it's all chance rather than hard work and saving.

I highly recommend Economics for Everybody DVD series (CC).

  4. I like the factor ladder. It is really not that hard if you start with "2". If the number is even, then it will be divisible by 2. Keep dividing by 2 until the number is odd. When odd, use the rules of divisibility until you get to one that works. Always use the smallest number possible first. That way the factors will be in order of smallest to largest.

When she has the factorization done, she just looks for "twins"! [Or triplets if 3 numbers, etc]

  5. Can y'all define what you mean when you say "sugar-free"?

For example, I know a Reese's peanut butter cup would be a no. But what about, say, a tangerine?

And what about all of those things in between those extremes that, surprisingly (to me), contain at least a few grams of sugar, like my fat-free milk, or salsa, or even the sausage dh is preparing for dinner?

Is it primarily white sugar and processed foods that you're avoiding? Or is it everything that has even traces of sugar?

Get the Sugar Out just got it out of the library. Here she is on video

I don't know how I missed this question earlier. I am just now trying to add in more exercise and some weights. I keep a meticulous diet but exercise is definitely my weakness. I am very busy and I have a difficult time justifying the use of time. I never take "me" time so I really should make it a priority.

    Thanks for the link.

I didn't want to take the time either, but I just decided recently I must do this (strength train)! My husband goes out the door at 6:45 AM. We've already eaten breakfast, so the kids know that is their time to get their chores done and get dressed, etc. I put on a TV news show and pop a DVD in a small DVD player nearby. Then I mute the exercise DVD and just follow what she's doing. I get 30-40 minutes of exercise in and I have at least a clue about what's going on in the world!

  7. I like it a lot.

Two observations . . . the font seems too small to me. Am I the only one who would like it bigger?

The pic of you is great. However, if I were a hoarder or messy and saw that room you're in, I might freak out thinking, "She's smiling, but she's gonna throw all my stuff away!!!!!" (Thought you would like the exclamation marks!)

  8. I haven't ventured into IF yet. I have been paleo/primal since July. I feel great but I do need to lose some weight and it just won't budge. I think IF might be the answer for me and I am willing to give it a try.

Does anyone here add in IF? If so, how many times per week and for how many hours? Do you fast before and after workouts too? Do you rely on coffee? How has IF helped you to lose weight?

Any info you want to share will not be unappreciated!

    Thanks :D

Are you lifting weights? Strength training will help you a lot with your weight loss.

Do you really eat "whatever you want" in that 8 hour window? I will remain paleo even if I adopt intermittent fasting or something like the 8 hour or 2:5 deal :)

No, I try to eat well all the time. For me that is low refined carb and low sugar. My goal is to try to get 7 fruits/veggies in before supper~can be hard, but I make a game of it. Also, I drink lots of water. Keeps the hunger pains away.

    Wishing you much success!
