    Ugh!

I think anytime medication can do a job on our gut microbiome, anxiety is a very real risk. Gut and brain seem to be linked that way.

Agreeing about Florastor type probiotics--I take a different brand of the same organism, and it's amazing stuff.

Do you have cushioning that helps (like a donut)? There are a some nice hot/cold packs made from clay (inside plastic) that can be molded to fit where needed. I hope you have access to several things to try.

Is the outer ear infection cleared up? I am very prone to those, and I found out that you can use white vinegar drops every 4-8 hours to clear those up. I have successfully avoided antibiotics for outer ear infections with this method in spite of having had MRSA infections in my ears in the past. You have to keep it up for a few days after the ear feels better, but it doesn't have to be at quite the same frequency. If you add a little bit of rubbing alcohol, it helps the vinegar drain out better (interferes with surface tension).

Thank you! The ear infection took 2 weeks but it did clear up. I might try the vinegar if it happens again!

Oh, babe, I'm sorry you're going through that. That sounds really rough.

And it's crazy that an antibiotic has such a side effect! I'm really glad you figured it out.

Right?!? I had to do some digging but it is listed as a possible side effect on some websites and in the UK. I also found some case studies where they suggest it might make people suicidal occasionally? It is a common antibiotic so I think these are uncommon side effects.

  3. Please don't quote as I will delete later. Back in August almost overnight I developed a huge labial abscess almost the size of a golf ball. I went to my Dr and he drained it (painful) and put me on antibiotic #1. After 7 days the area was still infected so he added another week of antibiotic #1. After that things were ok for a couple of weeks on my labia, but I developed an outer ear infection in both ears from all the baths I was taking to help my heal my abcess and was put on antibiotic #2.

A few weeks later the abscess came back. Dr. drained it again (again painful) and put me on antibiotics #3. The abcess is not healing. He prescribes me antibiotics #4.

I am taking antibiotic # 4 the week before the election. My anxiety is through the roof. I end up in the ER one night thinking I am having a heart attack but it ends up being panic/anxiety. I assumed it was because of the election. On the day after the election I go back in because I am still not healing. Dr. puts me on antibiotic # 5 and schedules me for surgery on the 9th to remove the abcess. I feel better emotionally and assume it must be because the election is (sort of) over.

I had my surgery on Monday (the 9th). It was way more intense than I expected. I have internal and external stitches and the incision is 3 inches long on my lady bits. Obviously the pain is terrible. Yesterday I went back to the Dr because the incision is infected. He switched me off antibiotic #5 back to #4. I took #4 yesterday and this morning.

Today I have completely spiraled out and am having the same feelings/sensations I had at the beginning of the month when I thought I was having a heart attack and in the middle of it put together that both times I felt this way I was on antibiotic #4.

So I called the on-call Dr who called my regular Dr who says that severe anxiety can be a side effect. So now I am being switched to antibiotic #6 and hoping my chest will go back to normal and my lady bits will heal and this whole nightmare will end.

I am so so tired of it all.

  4. Thanks for starting this thread! I've always loved reading what people find!

I'm considering this for dd13- Shakespeare Insult Generator!                                                                                                 https://www.amazon.com/Shakespeare-Insult-Generator-Match-Insults/dp/1452127751/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=bards+insults&qid=1605232705&s=books&sr=1-1

What I want the most is for my oldest kid to be home for the holidays, but they have already said they will not be able to make it due to COVID.

So giving up on that wish...  as far as a material item for myself, I'd really like a Marley Multi-pocket Urbanizer in purple.  I have a black one that has held up amazingly for the past 4-5 years, but the leather is starting to look worn and the magnet inside the front of the bag has somehow disappeared so that it doesn't clasp anymore.  I love that bag - it is everything I want in a handbag - but it is really expensive.  My mom sent money last week for Christmas, and for my birthday which is at the end of this month, so I could actually afford it if I wanted to spend that much money on myself.  But a snow-tire on our car that is driven by our son popped yesterday, and because it is AWD we had to replace all four tires - so that ate up all of my Christmas and birthday money.  And we are a bit behind on the bills already.

So, what I want for Christmas is peace and health for everyone.  Please everyone stay healthy...

Thinking of you. Missing family is going to be so hard this year.

That sounds like us!  We realized we were both much happier in the gift-giving area once I just picked out my own present each year.  😄

Truth!!  I feel like this is a high level marriage accomplishment. Be honest about what works and what doesn't and find a solution!

Yes!  Food gifts are the best!  I'd rather have that than anything!   I hate to cook and I'm not good at it (although it really doesn't matter--even good cooks would love something like that), so getting a homemade (but not made at my home) gift would be so appreciated!

My Granny for years made us granola for Christmas. I think it started as a frugal gift out of necessity, but it was always one of my very favorite gifts. So delicious!!!!

I honestly hope no one gives me anything this year and that truly would be the best present. DH broke his leg in September and has been out of work since, which means we won't be able to buy gifts this year. Our savings is being consumed quickly. So I would feel terrible if others bought us gifts and we didn't have anything in return. Well that's not exactly true. I am making gifts for my grandchildren from my stash of craft items. They are still small and won't care one bit that their gifts are Gigi made. Here's what I'm making for my granddaughter for her birthday. It's a traveling dollhouse for a felt "paper doll". There are little clothes for it in the wardrobe. I still have a few more touches for it and then it'll be ready to mail.

  10. I feel like I can finally respond to this! I'm just doing the high school level classes in this post. Will do 8th grade classes on the other board.

    Hits:

Algebra 1 with Foerster text and Math Without Borders videos: This has been a great move for us. The videos do a fabulous job explaining the concepts and our DD is gaining a really solid understanding.

Homeschool Spanish Academy Spanish 1: This started out as a complete disaster. My dd had a hard time adjusting to the work load and I was overwhelmed by the scheduling. We persevered, everyone adjusted, and I am so impressed with how much dd is learning. Plus, she rolled her r's successfully for the first time on Friday! I thought for sure it would be a big miss and am so glad I was wrong.

  11. I have been online window shopping as a distraction. I usually pick out my own holiday present, and often even order it myself. My dh is amazing in a million ways, but gift giving isn't his top priority. Anyway, it is time to pick out what I want and I don't have any ideas. What would you like for the holidays?

  12. Well, to make things even better I woke up at 2 am with heart palpitations and a numb/painful left arm and am now waiting in the ER...

I am morbidly obese but have actually lost 20lbs during covid so it seems pretty crappy to actually be making progress for the first time in years and now have this. I dont even know if this is a thing, but while I wait I am going to hope it is all the stress.

  13. I am extremely stressed about next Tuesday. I am also over reacting to some other things in my life in a way that doesn't make a lot of sense, so I think that is also probably connected to my stress over Tuesday.

I am a box checker and rarely have us take days off of school. I am thinking of maybe canceling school for tomorrow until Thursday and just reading books and doing crafts with the kids. Is that crazy? It would put us behind almost a week.

  14. We were married between Christmas and New Years. It is always so chaotic at that time of year and most of our marriage we couldn't afford a babysitter, so we have never really done anything fancy.  For several years we couldn't even remember what day it actually was. LOL The truth is, I would like to do something special (dinner out etc.). Someday when the kids are grown up? The one really lovely thing we do do (when we remember) is look at our wedding photos with the kids. That is lovely.
