  1. I was thinking of A History of the American People - Paul M. Johnson, but I'd like to know your recommendations. Thanks :)
  2. would you happen to have a list of the lit books you read that year? :D
  3. If you are using this for high school, about how many chapters per day or week is your student reading? Are you having your student outline every chapter or chapter summaries? What else are you adding in? Thank you. Also, anything questionable in this that you wouldn't want your high schooler to read?
  4. Thanks! I am lookng for just exposure so I think this might be a good fit.
  5. Anyone use this? Yay or nay? LOL Thanks :)
  6. Thank you everyone! We will continue with a college prep course. This really spoke to me: Gulp! And I do know a lot can change in a few years. We do hope all our children will go onto college and we are encouraging them in that direction. I guess I was getting wimpy with all the teeth gnashing over math LOL
  7. Warning CC..... I am not an ethical vegan nor a bible scholar, but man did not eat meat until after the fall. I believe God told Noah to eat meat, but before that all the seeds of the earth were for their meat. I can't answer the B-12 thing and how we need it and why it isn't in plants, but I just don't believe we were created to eat meat. Gen 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. Gen 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein [there is] life, [i have given] every green herb for meat: and it was so. Gen 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons..... Gen 9:2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth [upon] the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Gen 9:3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

  9. Oh, I am going to be sad if I can't wear contacts anymore. I detest glasses and I can see so much better with contacts.
  10. Thanks for all the suggestions. I am seeing the eye Dr on Saturday and will see what he thinks.
  11. Well atleast it sounds common, so now I am not as worried. I was thinking that maybe I have developed an allergy. I even tossed and bought new eye drops and cleaning solution. I am curious if possibly the contact makers have changed the materials they use? Maybe I need to try a few different brands until I find one that works.
  12. Hmm I didn't think dryness. Could be, although they don't feel dry. I am wearing acuvue oasys too. I am going to order some glasses next month and will try leaving the lenses out more. It could be my errr age and hormones :glare:
  13. I have been wearning contacts since I was 15 and I am now 40. I don't even own a pair of glasses, I take out my contacts at night and put them right back in in the morning. For the last month to 6 weeks I simply cannot wear my lenses! I put them in and they seem fine for a few hours and then they start to slip around? I will have to keep blinking to clear my eye, but I can't see because they are slipping and not fittng on the eye ball right. Finally I get frustrated and will take it out and my eye feels all scratchy. The eye Dr said they are scratchy from the contact slipping around. I end up having to leave the contact out for a day, sometimes longer. WHY would this suddenly happen? I am wearing the same style lenses I have worn for ages. I do have an astigmatism, could it have changed? I went to my eye Dr, who said the contact definitely isn't fitting right and gave me another kind. Same problem. Also, not sure if this is related or not but my eye lids have been SO itchy. I thought I might have an infection so I didn't wear make up for a few days. I also tossed all my make up and bought new. Still itchy. I am sure somehow the itchy is related to the contacts, but I can't figure out what is going on. I put my R contact in this morning and had to just take it out and clean it and it's still sliding around my eye.
  14. Interesting. Is their a home school conceptual chemistry course out there?
  15. Thank you all! I do plan to have her do physical, biology and chemistry and Alg I, II and geometry. What I was thinking though was Apologia for her science and TT for math. I figure if she does TT and does all their courses including the pre-calc that she would have = to a typical Alg II education. I really don't care for TT and have posted many times @ our experience with it, but I am wondering if this is the right course for this child.
  16. My 14 yo Dd is not interested in college at this time. I know things can change and I still plan to give her a good education. However, if she does go into college it isn't going to be for a science or math related field. She is artsy and I can see her heading that way. So, should I continue to push her with the science and maths that she doesn't like and struggles with or should I push her in the stuff she excels at and do the bare basics for math and science?
