my Grammar is weak ( getting better all the time) and I agree with the "pick one and stick with it." but,, well, you know ;).
I just wanted to make sure I wasn't running us in a ditch by adding MCT while continuing FLL and WWE. I'm going ot do Island Gramma with both , then do the reading, vocab, other MCT bits with the older one, and NOT add that to Little Bit's day until next year when I'll give Grammar Island a quick review and do the rest of the stuff with her.
Thanks for the feedback. It really does help.
I love this board.

Does anyone here combine these?
I have them all and hope to combine them.
Does anyone find FLL and MCT to complement or conflict with one another. Is the terminology the same? I appreciate that the approaches are very different, but will they fight against each other?

I am so sorry, carry on.

I read all ABOUT it on the web site, but I want to see a sample page. Does anyone know where I can see an actual sample of a real lesson?

Thanks for the help.

moltly I hear some greiving that your homeschool journey will end.. and it that it may be best for yoru kids if it ends sooner than you had originally planned.
Endings are just sad.
If you feel really good about the school and the philosophy matches yours pretty closely, and youc an be heavily involved, and the class sizes are small,,, It sounds like a very good step. It may be a very good transistion for your children.
It seems like a splendid oportunity to transition everyone to a more independent time in yoru children's lives.
If it were me, I would propobly do it and I would sorely greive at first.
If you do this, do give yourself permission to feel sad if you need to. And give yoruself permission to enjoy the new space in your life that this will give you.
I love the suggestion of trying it and then re-evaluating.
Good luck and blessings.

We use Right Start , and the games book and materials are a stand alone piece that reinforces skills. Because it is practice and not pedigogical, there is absolutely no conflict with another teaching methodology.
The games book is divided into sections to work on specific skills..
You may do a lesson form your regular curriculum , then play a game from RS.
I really love them. When we play them for a while I can see a real difference in the daily math skills and comfort level for my 2.
good luck.

Going to be adding MCT to our WWE and FLL, want to just double check that predicate nominative ( FLL) and subject compliment ( MCT) are the same thing.
Any preferences of terms out there, IF they are the same thing, I'll pick one term and use it in both programs.
ignorant ( but trying hard) in AL

I was happy to have discovered them before we were too far in , Song School Latin doesn't have them, but Getting Started with Latin does.
I too can't understand not using them from the beginiing, but .. oh now you tell me they are only SOMETIMES there.
oh my.
this whole ,, learning thing,,, is hard work.

Hey MamaT, and others.
Where do you get the study guides?
I looked at Ambleside online, and I LOVE some of the books, but not all of them will work for us.
Any beloved lists with study guides out there?

I don't know yet, but WWE and FLL don't take much time so I think it will be easy to add the time, I'll see if they work sequentially , or if I need to seperate them with in the same day or do them on different days.

I have set up a deer blind beside the mail box so I can pounce on on my Michael Clay Thompson materials the minute they arrive. While I wait , I am looking at the web site and see I will need to add in-class literature and free reading. Free Reading is easy, We use WWE and so have a list of amazing books to read. ( 2nd and 4th grade, I am waiting for MCT Island Level materials to add to FLL3 for my 4th grader)
So:
Question 1. How to teach Literature and handle the in-class reading. Do y'all read together? or assign a reading section ? And, how do you STOP a kid from just reading the book all the way through. That is a lovely problem we have at our house. None of us can put a good book down once we start., but we are not _ STUDYING _ them. I have How to Read a Book, should I look back there?
Question 2. In the discription, I saw the term "political correctness". Usually when I see that it is from a place of difiance about "not bowing to political correctness"
From those sources, I find that _I_ percieve a disregard for others views and experiences. a lack of sensitivity ( That is probably spelled incorrectly, sorry).
Any Liberals using Classics in the Classroom?
Thanks,

4th and 2nd is what I have, I had not thought of combining them for MCT.. That a good idea.
I'm glad to know it's low stress and takes only about 15 minutes. It looks great.

For those who combine... what does your day/ week look like?

He is NOT detail-oriented He is very bright and so most things come easily, If they don't he gets frustrated and I'm afraid he is sliding toward " slackerhood"
The rewrite ( and mean it) deal is a good suggestion. Will do.

How do I know which level for my 9 and 7 year old ?

Hey,
My son is 9 . He just filled out some cards for folks and was very sporatic with the use of capital letters. Some first names were caps, some not, no last names..
I'm concerned abou this. It seems to me that he shouldn't be even having to think about it at this point. Any thoughts?

and dc listen to them all the time.
husband made a set of kid cds so they can use them any time.
BUT, they have listened to them so much that now it's weird to go back over that stuff.
We do not own the ... oh shoot, I can't remember his name.. ( it's late)
fiddle, anyway,,, ours are the chick narrator, not the guy . We like them alot. having a set of kid ones has been a good thing for us. it's nice to have an extra set for the car too.

Just to have. my ds just browses though it for fun.
I'm already on SOTW, but am looking at History Odessy for the next round.
We spent the first part of this year on Story of US. The first book is several chapters of the variety of peoples who were already here when the European Invasion began.
sometimes a bit cute, but I really like her approach,
And the video series 500 Nations,,, ( oh wait, ,,, a bit too real for 7 years old probably, but keep it on the back burner.)
I'm interested in SouthEast Asian history, but haven't found much in the Ancient history area.
