  1. It is safer for all parties involved if you keep the cat in a carrier rather then holding it. Holding it while introducing them could actually make things worse because the cat gets used to having the security of you and may think since you are holding it that the dog is the one doing something bad even if its just being curious. This knowledge comes from being a pet sitter for 8 year, getting a BS in Animal Science, working at a veterinary hospital and training many of my own animals.
  2. This is how we always introduced cats to our dog and it has worked great. Put the cat in a cat carrier or cage of some sort so he is safe and they can't get to each other. Bring the dog into the room the carrier is in and get let him investigate it for a few minutes. Do this a few times a day, increasing the amount of time the dog is in the room. After the dog is out of the room make sure you give the cat lots of attention especially if the dog scared it. We have never had issues with our dogs eventually getting used to the cat, even though they still didn't like unknown cats. It may take a long time but eventually both animals will likely get used to one another
  3. I would start with the baby having his own room or being in your room. Eventually, I would have all 3 kids share a room and have the extra room for something else. This is what we are doing currently with DS 4.5, DD 3, and DS 4 months. I have no problem with them all sharing a room since right now all they do is sleep in it and none of them needs their own private space we will reconsider
  4. In Delaware, you could visit Fort Delaware. It held confederate prisoners during the Civil War, particularly those from Gettysburg. Also, check out Cape Henlopen if you're looking for camping/beach. It is a state park. The camping is inexpensive and about a mile from the beach.
  5. Here is one thing to really consider... Do you want a spinal block or epidural. With my 2nd I got a spinal block and they put the block too high and my entire body went numb. I couldn't breath on my own, couldn't open my eyes, or move my hand. But I could hear everything and was entirely conscious. It was the most horrifying experience of my life. with my 3rd i spoke to the doctor and he said he preferred spinals because they are more effective than epidurals but if that happened again he'd just knock me out if i wanted so i didn't have to experience that again. luckily, the spinal went fine but it was good knowing if it hadn't he would have made me comfortable
  6. i haven't had a vaginal birth but have had 3 c-sections and recovered amazingly from all 3. requested early hospital release before 48 hrs were up with 2 of them and was back to most tasks by the 4th day. The key is to get up as soon as you can. I was up 8 hrs after my most recent (4 months ago) and it was the easiest recovery of 3 easy recoveries. My mother who had 9 children had vaginal births for the first 6 and after an emergency c/s with the 7th opted for c/s for the last 2 because they were easier for her to recover from. Don't be scared. It may be hard but stressing about it now before it happens will do no good. Good luck and congrats
  7. i'm doing Phonics Pathways with my 2 children (4 and 3 next week.) And I love how ridiculously easy it is to 1. teach 2. understand (for the child) Once my almost 3 year old learned her letter sounds watching Letter Factory she said she was ready to do phonics (because she watches her brother.) Since they start with short vowel sounds and just add a letter in front its easy for her to understand blending just 2 sounds at first. Ex. s-a to sa. Also, at $7 used you can't really beat the price. My son is halfway through the book and is reading very well and because of the way they teach from reading left to right he is also a pretty good speller without me ever having to talk about spelling.
  8. I've found tons of sonlights books at goodwills and other thrift stores recently. actually found almost all the ones for 2nd grade at one goodwill as if the person had just dropped them off. Now and the next few weeks are the time to go looking, especially.
  9. I also agree Leapfrog Letter Factory!! My daughter will be 3 next week and 4 weeks ago barely knew any of her letters she just wasn't interested at all. My sister gave me letter factory and after watching it 3 times in 2 days she knows her upper and lower case and all the sounds! 4 weeks later and she is all about letters and has insisted on starting Phonics Pathways like her 4 year old brother. She is already starting to blend letters a bit. That dvd sparked her love for letters!
  10. If you are worried about her involving CPS or the police you need to be proactive and do it yourself. You need to take legal actions to keep her out of your lives because she clearly doesn't understand that you don't want her in it or she's just simply not respecting your wishes. You have plenty of cause for a restraining order and you have the therapist as a witness to her harassment. I would start by reporting the incident at the library to the police so its on record and continue to report things she does. So if she does contact CPS, it will already be in the system that she has been causing you trouble
  11. I haven't paid much attention to this at all since I live in DE and there is no sales tax so this won't affect me directly. But it does make sense to me. Sales tax is a tax on sales, why wouldn't online purchases be taxed.
  12. I see nothing wrong with the picture you describe. For me, ignoring an issue like that because the pictures are too graphic is silly. And for your children looking at the screen. Don't allow them to watch you while you are on facebook or hide posts from friends who post things you don't want your kids to see. If she has young kids as friends then those children's parents need to be monitoring their facebook so that is not the other woman's problem
  13. My 4 year old LOVES: Catan Junior Rivers, Rails, and Roads Chutes and Ladders Sorry Crazy 8's Boggle Jr. Don't Break the Ice Silly Socks Candy Land
  14. Original poster: For religion are you enrolled in the Seton course or just buying the material and making your own lesson plans? Just curious because I'm struggling with what to do and wanted someone else's input. thanks
