We used the David Myer's text that Sonlight recommends along with the Study guide and Barron's prep book at home. Sonlight guide gives a Christian perspective to the psychological concepts discussed if you need that.

God's peace and comfort be with you at this time! Praying for you.

We haven't made the final decision yet. Still waiting to hear from a couple of schools. Since ds.1 is a National Merit Finalist and since Baylor offers other scholarships based on merit it is on the top of our list.

It would tie in nicely with the medieval great books study she is doing. Ds. did AP Euro in 10th grade after he finished with Omnibus II and did well with a similar course load. He is a history buff though and loved all his readings.

We are using "The United States in Literature" text from Scotts Foresman that was recommended by someone on this board and it has worked well for us.

Ds.2 has taken English 1,2, and 3 at Potters School. I like the detailed feedback they give for all the writing assignments. I supplement the reading. It met our needs because writing is not my strength. Ds. 1 did their Grammar class which was excellent. The C.S. Lewis class is good too as far as the writing assignments go but ds. did not care for the discussions which he felt was very basic.

Thanks ladies, this is helpful. We were thinking of not completing the FAFSA.

Books I'm reading this week: Community by Brad House ( Christian non fiction) and A Calm Brain: Unlocking Your Natural Relaxation System by Gayatri Devi, M.D. I am halfway through both books and enjoying them tremendously. Both advocate for community! The book choices were random.

My mother uses a lot of legumes in her diet especially garbanzo beans which has a low glycemic index since she is diabetic.

Sonlight offers an AP Psychology course that we did last year. You can buy the textbook from Amazon and order their interactive Psychology workbook that provides excellent support for the parent in using the textbook. Christian viewpoint is also provided. Even though it is labeled AP you can do the course and call it Honors Psych.

Thanks, plansrme! This is very helpful.

I went with my student's interest. One son decided on AP Human Geography and US Govt. Another one wants to take only US Govt. So it really depends.

5 for AP Psych. (self studied), AP Macroeconomics (Howard Richman), and AP English Lit. (Debra Bell), and a 3 for AP Calculus BC with the online state school program which was badly done. Ds. plans on taking AP Calculus BC with PA Homeschoolers this year.
-
Another option would be to use Teaching Company's Economics course by Prof. Timothy Taylor. My son's AP Econ. class used this. You could use this along with a book like Naked Economics or Sowell's Basic Economics. You should be able to find the TC lectures used.
HTH!

Is there a Christian college that caters to science and math majors specifically Premed that is similar to PHC? Maybe there are others wishing for this for their science and math students?

Some suggestions: AP Human Geography, AP US Government & Politics, AP World History, AP US History, AP European History, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Psychology
If you had to choose between Honors college at UNC Chapel Hill and Baylor University in TX for Pre med which would you choose? Thanks for any input.

The finances work out to be somewhat similar because of scholarships from both schools. Baylor might end up a little higher but not significantly. UNC Chapel Hill is closer to home but very liberal with extremely large class sizes for Pre med. Baylor has a christian atmosphere and smaller class sizes. They seemed to be more focussed on building their pre med program; for example, they offer a separate living learning center for their pre med students this year to foster group learning. Most students get into Texas medical schools (which have the lowest tuition) but they do have those that go to Harvard, Yale, etc. We are trying to find out more about pre med at UNC. They seem to have a great Health Policy program but no one has recommended their pre med to me yet. We do plan on visiting soon.
