My husband and I both completed medical school. Now I am an M.D. turned homeschooling mom. My best advice is to read, read, read...and not just medical/science books. Become a well-rounded person with lots of interests. That is what will help you to excel and is what medical schools want. There is financial aid out there and great public medical schools, but the debt is large and real so it is something to think about. As your child gets older have him or her "shadow" various people in the medical field to see what he or she finds interesting. Spend time volunteering in "free clinics" and go on medical missions trips. All of these things can help to clarify what you like and why you would do it. Best wishes!
