Just an idea from someone here to learn. Wouldn't the youngest benefit from just watching the olders doing their experiments, while holding things and being "helpful"?

Jean in newcastle, have you tried taking potassium for your RLS? Mine used to be horrible.
The Emergen-C multivitamin packets have 6% of the potassium requirements. Whenever I feel a twinge, I drink a couple of packets. I don't otherwise take multi-vitamins. I should probably take a packet a day, but I don't.
Each packet also has 15% of magnesium, which I've heard that other RLS suffers take.

My husband and both my parents have one. It was revolutionary with all of them. With my husband, instead of doing one night to see if he had apnea and another night to test the settings, they did it all in one night. Instead of Wakes per hour, they used wakes per minute with him. They woke him up to put on the machine because they were genuinely worried he would die during the study if they didn't.

Have you ever been a sub?? There is no limit to the crazy things kids tell you!
I have. That is why I added the reasonable check. But if the class seems to be in agreement that you shouldn't open the door during a lock-down, and that seems like a reasonable rule, then you don't open the door during a lock-down. Regardless of training, or the lack thereof.

As a general idea, I don't find it odd that a flat belly and perkiness is attractive. Beauty isn't about what can be attained. Beauty is about Health and Luxury. For example, when a tan meant you had to work outdoors, then a tan was not attractive. That changed when a tan meant vacations at the beach.
Although the media has taken things to an unhealthy extreme that even the actors and models don't live up to their own pictures.

I don't have any links (because I didn't save them) But, from what I read, it would be better if everyone could be rear-facing and reclined like in a baby seat.

The sub isn't blameless. The kids said what needed to be done. What the kids said was very reasonable. The sub did not follow what the kid's said. I think that the sub was just an idiot.

Your question assumes that there should be tomato sauce. It should not have tomato sauce (although that is forgivable).
It should never ever have beans.
This is a better version.

There isn't just the medical things that would have killed us. I remember watching a PBS show where they had people live like X time period for a decent amount of time. They offhandedly mentioned that being killed helping with the laundry was a real danger. It involved boiling water on the stove and putting the clothes and getting them out after a certain amount of time. That is a far cry from not letting my daughter anywhere near the stove and getting hysterical when someone leaves the handles pointing outward.

I, too, and really not seeing the problem. It seems like the XBox might have been a small part of the problem. I know a couple of moms at the church mom group turned the TV for X amount of time for their normal kid. They saw large improvements. I couldn't do it htought

At my elementary school (3rd - 6th), we weren't allowed to talk during recess or lunch. We could play with whomever we wanted, but it was hard to do anything but parallel play when you couldn't talk. My parents didn't know until maybe 5th when I started to get demerits for talking in class, and they found out it was the only time I could talk.

This has been very interesting. I know the horse has held up well, even including being sat on by DD who is very small for her age. DD does play with her "baby dolls", so she would probably pay with one of these. I had Barbies as a kid, but they creep me out.

Ok, I am genuinely curious. What is the appeal of the American Girl Dolls? I don't have anything against them, I just don't know. People seem to get excited about that brand.
We were at a garage sale recently of a family moving to Hawaii (best sale ever) We bought a large black horse, and the husband said to the wife "Are you sure you want to sell that? It is for an American Girl Doll horse." The wife replied "Hawaii." We paid $5. It is a beautiful horse.

I live in Texas, and I hate football. There, I said it.
I really don't have a problem with sports being part of school. I know for me excelling at a competitive extracurricular (Debate) was a huge turning point for me. We even missed some of Friday's late classes, and sometimes stayed in hotels. So, I can see how for an athletic kid, it would be nice to have a place to shine.
I just wish it weren't so Darn Important. The only time I have seen greater community happiness than when the local football team was first in the state, was when I was in Rome when the Italians won the Soccer WorldCup. Even then, it might have been equal.

Not related to the story in the OP, but I've asked this question before (here, and in other places) and no one has ever answered it.
Sometimes all participants are drunk. Why is the male held responsible for recognizing the ability of the woman to give consent, while the female is not held responsible for being able to give it (or not)? Why is there an expectation that the man will protect the woman who has put herself in a position where she cannot protect herself?
Somewhere I read the comment that women should be free to get as drunk (stoned, whatever) as they want and not fear unwanted sexual activity. The implication, of course, is that men must stay sober as they hold all the responsibility. That was supposed to be feminism in action. But why shouldn't everyone be expected to keep their wits about them?
Again, not talking about this story. This sounds so horrific and even if the boys were drunk during the episode, afterward they should have showed shame for their actions, gotten rid of the photos, etc.
To me the difference is Active versus Passive.
If a drunk girl were to remove the pants of a drunk boy and climb on top, then she would be the guilty one.
If someone is sober enough to undress and actively participate, then they can give consent. They are also sober enough to get consent and to know that the other person is "out of it" and can't.
The only situations I've known of, the girl was out of it enough at the time that the whole incident was blurry.

I don't find it that odd. For them and their beliefs to do otherwise would be odd. It doesn't match what I did. But to each their own.

My appendix was close to bursting when they removed it while I was in High School. Probably would have died then.

I know the way a former company got around labor certification to hire a foreign worker was to find the worker they wanted first. List the job description to precisely match that person, and make the job title extremely specific.
By specifying for the person they wanted to hire, the only other applicants (and there were still many) did not qualify.
I agree with Comment#2 on STEM being used as a substitute for an IQ test. That has been my experience.

What about putting desks on wheels, and wheeling them together like in the Confessions of a Homeschooler to make a big table.
But then wheel them apart for non-big projects.
You could even wheel a desk into a Really Boring space for the very distracted kid.

I remember reading in ... I think Science of Childhood, that brain scans of children that have been bullied are different in ways that make them more prone to depression.
I think the parents are experiencing Cognitive Dissonance. They sent their child to the school so either,
- They sent their child into a dangerous situation in which they could be harmed, and therefore they are scumbags who don't love their kids, or
- They sent their child into a perfectly normal situation, and while it may be painful for the short-term, the child will be better for it.
It doesn't make it true, but who wouldn't rather think the latter?

If you turn it inside out how do you get it out? I seem to need those little ribs on the sides.

I can sympathize. I was really into Debate in High School, and I switched to Lincoln-Douglas for that reason. I was in Public School, and my substitute partner just started agreeing with the other side while being questioned.

That is one of our reasons for homeschooling. I've had dubious looks when I tell friends and family that. (Although I've never used the 2 hour number, but it seems about right) Then I ask the dubious audience to think back to a time they had to be home for an extended time period, like Chicken Pox, Pink Eye or Mono. How long did it take to do all the work required? I always gets nods of agreement then. I had chicken pox in late elementary and pink eye in early High School and Mono in late High School. In none of those time periods did the required work take more than 2 hours per day. In fact, each time was a boost in my grade because I studied my textbooks out of boredom.
Of course, we will spend more than 2 hours.

I love mine and I am a serious bleeder. I dump it every bathroom trip and it has been to the brim frequently. One huge benefit is that my periods are a lot shorter now. Heavier while bleeding, but they don't drag on quite so long. I think the tampons were causing a backlog.
I had worried about the mess, but overall I find it MUCH less messy. Tampons always leaked and this doesn't. Staying blood-free in the outer area is Huge.
I might be inserting it wrong though. I can not pee while it is in. Any ideas?

I read that the ringleader was a friend of the victim's son and had lived with them during some "difficulties".
Happily he is over 18 and therefore will be charged as an adult. Hee Hee Hee
