Oops, just noticed, self education. For you?
If so, I'd probably just do written narrations.

We went with a VA in 2002, it wasn't so bad. Did it again last year and I pulled them out by Christmas. I couldn't take the hoops, and the busy work, and spending hours per week preparing for state tests. My kids hated it. I hated it. Couldn't wait to get back to traditional homeschooling. And honestly, the curriculum wasn't that great (Connections Academy) lol

All of my children will be doing ancient history this year. My 9th greater is reading some of the great books, but I'm not sure what to do for my 5th and 7th grader? I've looked at the Sonlight list. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any lists of novels in chronological order?
Thank you!

Yes we did. We also used a narration cube to mix it up a bit. http://www.pennygardner.com/narrationcube.html

Tig. Tetanus immune globulin.
That's it! I was under the impression the vaccine wasn't effective after exposure.
-
I thought they gave something totally different if there was a chance you were already exposed?

Well, I posted about this a few weeks back. Our cat acts like so pathetic with mice. They always get away and he's left running in circles. I don't know if he's afraid, but he is worthless as a mouser. I have a very bad mouse phobia, and I was losing my mind just at the thought of one being in the house. The mouse was getting too much play time in MY house, so we adopted TWO more cats. It's been 3 weeks and I've seen no sign of a mouse. LOL! I am hoping that works. And the cats are super cute and lovable. (My original cat only likes one of my daughters)

BTW, I think it depends on what type of pregnancy or newborn you have. My first pregnancy was textbook perfect. So was the baby. The next pregnancies were very hard. So were the babies. LOL
-
When I was pregnant with the last one, I thought it was worse.
I had severe pelvic pain (spd), morning sickness came back, I couldn't reach anything. Standing made me miserable. Moving made me miserable. -- I should have just relaxed and kept my feet up, but I was overpowered with the desire to DO. Clean, move things, buy, knit...Which only made me exhausted beyond words. Yet, I still couldn't sleep.
Then the baby was born. And she wouldn't let me put her down...ever. She was colicky. My husband works away from home so it was me and the baby. That was a very hard time and much worse than the pregnancy was.
All worth it though!

My kids read the books and saw the movie in the theater. They understood it and seemed to have gotten a lot out of it. But they are teens.
The movie is rated pg-13 for violence. Did y'all not notice that before putting on the move? We use imdb.com to check out movies we are not sure about letting our kids watch. The parental advisories can be helpful (not always).
http://www.commonsensemedia.org/ is much better for parental ratings and info.
We loved the books and the movies. My 10 year old son read it with us when he was 9. Loved it. But I only took my girls to see the movie.

Maybe this will help: What is the difference between Spielvogel's
That was helpful!
Western Civilization is used as a college text at our community college. For your 9th grader and your sanity, I'd just use the one HO book. Not everyone has to be a history buff. ;)
You are so right!
We are going to go with HO!

The site made me excited to dive into it, as I've never read it. LOL

While searching around for discussion prompts, I came across this site: http://www.learner.org/courses/worldlit/gilgamesh/
Not sure if it's been shared before, but it's a great resource for viewing lectures, excerpts, discussion prompts, questions, and connections.

Is the Spielvogel Human Odyssey? If so, that is a high school text.
Yes, Spielvogel Human Odyssey! Thanks
-
Well, I thought I had everything all planned out. We were using Western Civilization (Spielvogel) for 9th grade. My younger children were going to be using Human Odyssey, which is quite similar for ancients. I have the teacher wraparound for HO and it has been smoother for planning. I am ripping out hairs planning for WC! I was thinking of, perhaps, allowing all of my children to work with HO. How does this sound? Would it be enough substance for a 9th grader? She really doesn't like history, and is more of an artist.
What do you think? Human Odyssey for 9th grade? Would probably go on to use it for future grades as well. Of course, I'll add in great books and videos and more difficult questions, etc for her. I just want to make sure it's enough.

Another vote for a MacBook Pro. I was a PC gal until this year, and now LOVE mine. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

:iagree:
Please, I beg of you, listen to me for a second.
There is NOTHING that will tie up your blessings like being envious. I know it's hard, I lived in a teeny house (1000 square feet) with 7 kids. I *get* it. I really do. But believe me, you must work through how you feel and change your heart. I remember the frustrations and crying, but give the suffering up to God, and turn and be happy for them.
Be truthfully, truly, heartfelt happy for those who are being blessed. Apart from living in a state of gratitude, being whole heartedly happy for other's blessing is the way to open up heaven for yourself.
:grouphug: It's a hard lesson to learn, but it's freeing.

More bathrooms = more cleaning.
We have 2 and 4 kids. My girls really don't spend much time in the bathroom, so it's been fine. Actually, the cat's litter is in one and he pretty much has taken it over (sitting in the window, hanging on the warm rugs, playing with the toilet paper :glare: )

Wherever they want! If it's something together (including me) it will happen in the living room, or maybe in my bedroom.

Language Arts, Latin and Logic!!

It still isn't working for me.
Is anyone else having trouble?
I'm not sure what the problem is. Other people have accessed it.
Did you get a specific error?

The link isn't working for me?
It sounds like a great project! I'll see if I can get my son interested.
Oops, I think it may be the extra period at the end.

I love Hope Floats and anything with a pregnant woman or a baby. LOL

I have four, but I am an only child. Guess I'm making up for the many times I prayed for a sibling. LOL
