4kidlets.... I have them - two student admissions to the fair through the 23rd. If you can use them, I'll gladly mail them to you! PM me if you want.

My teacher sent me tickets to the Puyallup Fair. I'm not even sure if we can make it up there, and I told him that before he sent them. I'm sorry you all are missing out. CVA confuses me to no end. :(

I wonder what they're doing with them at the library?
In "my" library (that I sub at), we collect them and recycle them!!! I haven't heard anything about this changing anytime soon... :001_huh:

I spoke with my AT today. He wants me to set ONE goal PER SUBJECT PER SEMESTER. He said to name the curriculum and the goal (Saxon Algebra I, to get through Lesson 60 by the end of the first semester, for example).
Sounds easy enough. However, I'm planning on using other curriculum than ordered (they forced me to order something for each subject, but I'm using Apologia for Biology, for example) so I'm wondering how easy it really will be.
He also said his understanding is no monthly reviews, only weekly.
I'm cautiously optimistic.

I got a letter from our new AT today too. Was surprised to find myself relieved to find out "Pat Schneider" is a man. :) We've really REALLY loved having Mr. Palmer the last two years, so Mr. Schneider has some big shoes to fill. I'm nervous about this year - first year of high school, all the changes in CVA...

Ours continues to trickle in, small box by small box. Of course the ONE thing my kids are actually excited and wanting to do has not arrived yet. (Hip Hop) :)

I didn't hear anything until September last year, and it was our second year.
And I'm showing a new AT :( so if you're not, maybe you have the same one. I wish we did! I think he lost his job with all the cuts. :(

WOW and thank you!!! I think I could do that with my stuff - and now I have a great place to start! Thanks. :)

Thank you, Dawn!!! LOTS of fun stuff on that site. :D

Definitely on a similar schedule, and most definitely interested!
Thank you SO MUCH!!!!! :D

;) the library I sub for uses ILLiad as well. But we just call them "ILLs" :001_huh:

What did your teacher say? Mine always gives me more than enough feedback that I don't have to really decipher the scores...
-
3peas.... your AT writes in the same manner as mine. ;) Is it Mr. P, otherwise known as E??? :)
-
Joann, my kids both tested (MAP) in January. You could definitely have them tested before April 15...
This all makes me sad. I've really loved CVA. :(

It's back up! :)

I got a call this morning from my AT (he is awesome - I have no complaints whatsoever).
He was calling to give me a heads-up that they (Valley) are in discussions about *possibly* cutting funding to PE CBIs effective at the end of March. Our music doesn't seem to be in jeopardy (yet).
He re-iterated that they are fighting for us :) and that the main issue is that the state's definition of "substantially similar" leans more toward "identical" while CVA's definition leans more toward "similar."

Maybe "The Littles" series by John Peterson?
I haven't read them, but I've seen them while working in the library ...

No email from mine. We're Valley. :(

We cover TWO subjects a week, and over the month we get them all. In weekly contact I name goals met :blink::blink: and they talk about what they did/learned in their own voice.
I cut and paste for monthlies.
I can't believe how much you all are doing for weeklies! A huge reason for so many being frustrated with CVA is the hazy, vague, different-from-AT-to-AT guidelines on this type of stuff!
I have an 8th and 6th grader. I can't imagine the time it would take for us to report on EVERY subject EVERY week. We're too busy doing school and living life to regurgitate it that often!
I wish they would send us all clear direction. I do really well at following instructions! ;)
-
I rarely post but hope you'll keep me. :) 2nd year w/CVA, Washougal, I've been on a field trip to the Bonneville Dam ... have I convinced you? :)

Very fun! :)
Thank you. :)

Amazon has several nanoblock sets, too. :)
I ordered a little white dog set after seeing them in Timberdoodle's catalog ... haven't opened it yet, but I think they are going to be a hit for my lego-loving-boy. :)

Report on 2 subjects (therefore covering all 8 in a month - I have a schedule I strictly stick to so this does indeed happen)
For each subject, I name the goals (just numbers!) from WINGS that were met. I give details on what we did (page or lesson numbers, test scores, or experiments, or books read or videos watched... not too detailed since he already knows what curriculum we are using, which is a mish-mash I chose)
Then I let the kids read what I wrote and they respond in their voice on SOMETHING I mentioned. Something they learned, how they felt about their art project, what they are going to work harder on .... just something.
That's it! Then for monthly reviews, I cut and paste from the weeklies!
Every subject every single week seems excessive to me. And it would take up valuable time that I should be spending on educating my children! I'm sorry. :(

What confuses me is the disparity among ATs! This is what my weekly contact looks like (and I proposed it early this year and it was accepted by my AT): (cont. below)
