Holy smokes this just happened to me last night after coming home to no supper started, dishwasher not emptied, and two kids in the bathroom and no studying/homework being done!

  3. I would spend time outside of meal time rustling the bag and using their dishes, and at the first sign, tell them their behaviour isn’t appropriate. I would also put the food in various containers and use various bowls. But mostly the first part. And then, when they are calm while you rustle the bag, reward their calmness.

I have literally never once in 15 years had a 911 call about a straight marijuana overdose. Synthetic marijuana and pot laced with other drugs, yes.

We haven’t seen any changes since legalization, really, as far as more/less 911 calls regarding pot.

Sorry, I was talking about the police side specifically, but yeah, no assistance with medical calls that I can recall.

Yay! Someone else who uses Airtable. Hearing about Airtable usage “in the wild” brings a smile to my face.

I sense a personal angle here, lol.
I was so proud that I got it to a point where parents could scan a QR code with their office to sign up, and then after that, scan a code at each meeting as their attendance, and automatically keep track of who met the 3-meeting rule to attend. And then I took the info for each event we needed volunteers for and made a nice brochure for new parents. Sigh, it was good work….

  6. Gently, have you looked at the syllabus for IB Physics? Because it covers a lot, very fast. And from my son’s experience with IB Calculus and a Ukrainian teacher, he was expected to be solid in a lot of math, and basically already know the material before being taught. Once he had a problem that he didn’t deal with immediately, he was behind, and it was on him to figure it out while learning the new material. My son has always enjoyed math. That experience, not so much. The same teacher in non-IB can go slower, work with the class more, etc.

Here is an outline I found:

  7. Well, this is close to home right now! Oldest DS made the decision in grade 10 to do the full IB diploma program. His grades declined throughout 11th, and he failed one class. He had no option but to drop the diploma. I think it was a good thing. I would have rather he dropped it without failing a class, but…. He is just not willing to put in the work necessary, and I’m not willing to make him. This year, he is taking three IB classes (shockingly he kept IB English, just for the teacher). We’re only a few weeks in, but the workload is so much more manageable. And he was surprised at how many fewer kids there are in diploma this year. Also, I have a much happier kid. Still stressed about grade 12 and life choices, but so much more manageable.

Yes, Structured. It seems to be only on iPhone though, I can't find it for my android phone.

It looks pretty neat. If only there was some guarantee that my boys would actually use it!

I can't tell you how many times I read the OP trying to find where you said the actual name of the app 😂. My fault for repeatedly skimming.

I skimmed the comments to find your comment, then only had to go back and read it one.word.at.a.time…. Twice

    Structured?

They spend more time at his house, not including time at the gym or restaurants than they do at mine.

I don’t think her son would go by himself.  I think he has only been with my kid.

Well, it was just a thought 🙂 I hope you find a solution that works for all of you!

  11. I understand how you feel. But I do agree that the hanging out that you provide is also valuable. Maybe the other mom was on a message board, feeling bad that her son has finally clicked with someone and made a friend, but the other mom is always having him over, and making homemade dinners and because of (insert reason here), she can’t reciprocate. And maybe her e-maginary friends on the message board said, well maybe you can’t pull *that* off, but is there anything outside the house they can do? And she said, hey, they enjoy climbing, and it’s only $x to add a second kid…. What a great idea, I feel so much better!
