  1. Ok, from googling, this is what I found. Am I reading it correctly that he will need to file his NY state tax on his own? I did not have any income from the state of New York. I know this is probably way easier to figure out than what I am making it, but I am just so stressed out and over-whelmed with being the one to have to deal with all of our legal stuff we are going through right now.

  2. No, we were not legally separated in 2012. I know we need to be filing married for our federal return. However, Florida does not have a state tax so that part is new to me. He has only lived in New York for 2 months, but long enough to file NY state tax. I wasn't sure if he would be able to file his state on his own or if that had to be filed joint as well.

  3. Ok, so here is the scenario. My husband moved out in Sept. Moved to New York in November with his girl friend. The divorce was started last year but still not complete, so I know we can still file married and joint. I have his W2s. I wasn't even thinking about New York having state tax. Do I file that as joint too since we are filing federal joint? Does that one need to be filed separately by him?

Uggghhhh....help. I just want to do my taxes and get my refund. His actions keep messing me up left and right and I am really getting sick of it.

  4. I also like the 50 post minimum in order to post FS items. It keeps people from coming here just to sell and then walk away. It's nice to develop a relationship with people. After all. we are the WTM Community. :001_smile:

I also think that limiting the number of posts you could make in one day in the classifieds would be good. Of course, be able to list multiple items in one post with a function in the price box of various or multiple items would help with that. When someone list 15 different things for sale in 15 different posts, you have to go through a lot of posts to see everything.

A better search function would also be appreciated. It is very hard to find something now.

  5. I just had another one of briiiilliant ideas (just kidding....does that show my age?)! You had asked about punctuation....well, you could (and I might just do this) make a few cards of your own. One that says "Capital" or "Capitalize" or "Capitalization" or "Start each sentence with a capital letter" or something like that (you can tell I haven't completely thought this through yet  ). This card could be put on top of the very first card laid out for the sentence. Make several cards that say something like "Capitalize each proper noun". Then you could make some cards with a period, a comma, exclamation mark, question mark...and those could be laid out at the end, or within, the sentence also. Of course, the sentence in the book (or on the board) will already have the proper punctuation right in front of them....but this may be way of drawing their attention to it since they have to lay the cards out for the sentence correctly, including the punctuation. Hmmm.....I like my idea. :D

I think you are on to something here. I like this idea too! Thanks!!

  6. For me it is worth it. I am the kind of person that really needs to have things in my hands to make a decision. I also only live a little over an hour away from our big state convention.

I will usually go with 2 or 3 friends. We split the cost of the hotel room, which makes it more affordable. For me, it is a time of recharging after a long year. I get to take my time through the vendor hall, listen to a few lectures, relax by the pool and take some time to think about things I have looked at.

  7. We are currently using CGE and enjoying that. (well, I am enjoying and he is tolerating :tongue_smilie: ) I really like the sounds of the hands-on, visual approach of Winston. However, it doesn't cover punctuation, dictionary usage, etc., like CGE does. Would it be possible to use the Winston cards with another grammar program? Has anyone done this? Or am I just plain nuts?
