  1. I have first hand experience in this matter. Well, sort of. Conjoined twins are ALWAYS identical. I had a monoamnionic/monochorionic twin pregnancy. Very rare. My medical records showed that if my egg did not split when it did, it was a matter of hours and my girls would have been conjoined. MOMO twins(nickname) is extremely rare. My egg decided to split last second. My girls shared the same sac with no dividing membrane. So the biggest risk of course, was cord entanglement. The only thing my GYN could do was monitor me very closely. But I could walk in and have an ultrasound, and the girls would be fine. But could walk out and one could die and I wouldn't even know it. After MOMO twins get to be larger, the cord entanglement risk goes down somewhat. But one wrong move on one twins part and...............Unfortunately for me, one of my identical MOMO twins did not make it. In a MOMO twin pregnancy, you cannot go "longer". If one twin dies, the other one cannot stay in your uterus as toxins will pass through your survivor. So the goal is to at least get them to 27 weeks so if one passes away, the other one could be saved. I went in for my last and final ultrasound on September 8th as I was scheduled for a C-section on Sept 9th, 1998. My other twin had passed away in utero and I did not know it. I had an emergency C-section at 29 weeks 6 days. My other daughter died from hydrops and congestive heart failure. She had a very, small thin cord. Due to the fact that my egg had split so late. I truly believe that my twin, Kari that died hung on long enough for my other daughter to come into the world. If Kari had died in utero before 24 weeks, my survivor would have never made it. My surviving twin is now 14. She knows all about Kari, and the issues surrounding her birth. She now sees the same GYN who delivered her. My office has never seen a case of MOMO twins, and they still have not to this day. My survivor beat all the odds. She spent over 2 months in NICU, weighed 2lbs 14 oz at birth, came home at 4 pounds 7 oz. Spent two months on oxygen and a heart monitor. I was told she would never walk or talk. Well, after lots of PT as a baby, she walked at 2 years old, talked at 15 months. And today, she figure skates and sings professionally. If anyone know of someone who has experienced the loss of a MOMO twin, both twins, or is pregnant with MOMO's, please get in touch with me and I can give you the name of a very good support group.

First i am sorry for your loss

My BFF has MOMO twin girls they are 9 now. If it was not for the fact she went into the hospital to be monitored from week 24 they would not be here as they were going to wait till she was 26 weeks. She had them at 25 weeks 1lb 9oz 1lb 14oz When the dr took them from her their cords were completely tangled and had only seconds per the dr. We live in a large population and that is the only MOMO babies they have had.

  2. I have not read the book but have watched the movie as at the time it was streaming on netflix. It made me think about my life and my life choices. I am very happy with what I have chose. But I see and understand better some choices and struggles some other friends have had in their life.

Maybe it is time to read the book

  3. Curious what those tests will tell... My dd test neg for celic however she reacts to to has lots of food allergies. height she is 10% for age and weight outside of birth she has been either negative to 5% at 6.

She is hyper (so was daddy at that age and calmed with age) and always hunger but at 6 she is 34 to 36lbs

Lots of allergies Lots of GI issues

  4. Is there away to get print out of all of Kay posts and send it book form for her son? So he can see how is mom was with others? I guess my thinking is maybe something she put on the board answering a question from a mom in a situation that he may face and know what advise she may give? Or what she thought about this or that. Or reading how many lives she touched by reading this thread.

  5. What we do is begin our new school year July 1 (when our district does but the students dont go back till mid Aug) and end in March sometime depending on what is going on. We then have "fun" school. Instead of MUS, IP MEP and Challeging word problems we are going to just do BA instead of FLL and WWE we are just going to do Grammar land and the worksheets and for science we are just going to do experiments and the earth science co op we are in. We are working on geography co op and some at home as that is a huge interest. We will do unit studies from five in a row and lots of nature studies as we are working on our new garden. We will also continue to do CC at home at the pace of her friends that are in CC as for her it is fun to memorize the songs!

  6. My nephew has a tether spinal cord so that was also looked at as he suffers from constipation but his had more to do with a surgery her had as a preemie, we have tried the mag with no change but it has been awhile we may revisit after our dr appt next month

Thank you for the ideas even if they dont help my dd they may help some dc

  7. My oldest DD suffered with encopresis for years. She is now 10 and will still have problems when we go out of town or get off our routine in some way. Mirilax is what her ped recommended and what we've always used. It's so much easier to get down than mineral oil. I don't think it was rough on her system. You just need to get her cleaned out. Trust me, you don't want to be dealing with that for the next five years!!!!!! I'm so grateful it's finally behind us. Good luck!

We have been dealing with this since she was four months old she is six now. We have had her cleaned out many times. Even on two caps of Mirilax and coconut oil she still has hard stools. The GI (the 15 we have gone to!) are not sure why. We have eliminated everything she is allergic to and them some. She has been scoped from here to there. We have made sure her allergens are not in any of the other products. She is underweight and eats like she is a teenage boy!

  8. My little one can not do senna and I refuse mineral oil so we use miralax and two teaspoon of tropical tradition coconut oil and green smoothies with flax and glasses of water. She for some unknown reason can not have a bowel movement with out those daily.

  9. Just to make sure I am not missing something. I didnt realize she was as strong in math as she is. We are chugging along with FLL and WWE but moving to MCT when we finish our current books in a few weeks. She is a strong reader

  10. we have never had our daughter tested we have just been going with the flow and running behind her lead.

Is there any benefit to having her tested? If there is what test?

She is six (will be seven in Sep)

    Thanks
