  1. Did you buy the Extra Practice sheets? We use CLE. When a concept is not really gotten, we pull out the Extra Practice sheets and work those. Then we move to the next lesson. You could also try working 1/2 the questions in each section one day and the other half the next day. Granted, you won't finish all the workbooks in a school year, but hopefully spending more time with each lesson will solidify his understanding. Hope this helps . Sorry I don't have more for you.

  2. So i did my first day of Turbo Fire today...whew! It wasnt easy, but I did it! I am going to sleep well tonight, guaranteed. My boys both tried to follow along with me and gave up after 5 minutes LOL. I really hope I can stick with this. I joined a support group and put the class schedule on my fridge......:001_huh:

Good for you! I lost 20 pounds and got muscles w/ TurboFire. I think Chalene is very motivating!

  3. I'd put him in level 300. There is TONS of review built in to CLE Language Arts. Each grade level covers the same stuff, just with more depth and harder spelling words.

:iagree: They also have an extra worksheet book that you can buy for if your kiddo needs extra review. I recommend it, at least for this first year.

So' date=' things that would be hard for me to make fit under the rules are things like spaghetti. I usually use pkgd pasta with homemade sauce. It isn't many intredients but takes a while for the sauce to simmer. It might do, though, if I didn't let it simmer so long or if I just tossed with diced tomatoes, basil and garlic w/o making the sauce.

FYI> I make sauce with veggies, seasoning, diced tomatoes, and a small can of tomato paste to make it saucy. It doesn't take long because the paste thickens it without waiting for the tomatoes to reduce. HTH

  5. Thank you everybody. I am so excited to get to go to Richmond and can't wait to see everything. Science Museum is a definite. Is walking the Monument Ave feasible? Is the Petersburg National Battlefield close to Pamplin Park? Is that any good? I have the places you all have recommended bookmarked. I'll be busy reading tonight. Nothing like waiting till the last minute. :)

ETA: Would Maymont still be good after visiting Mt. Vernon?

  6. I continue to really struggle with sugar addiction!:glare:

I'm wondering, for those of you who understand what I'm talking about and struggle with it, too, do you have an family history of alcoholism?

I read once, somewhere, that sugar addiction and alcohol addiction are somewhat related. has that been your experience? Alcoholism definitely runs in my family on both sides.

And, if you have any suggestions on conquering the addiction, I would love to hear them!:)

Wow, really? Yes, I am a sugar addict (as are other members of my family) and I have a huge family history of alcoholism. Off to read this thread...

  7. I have 30 min, 4-5 days a week. I do cardio 3 days and strength 2 days. On 4 day weeks, I combine strength w/ cardio on one of the cardio days and add 10 minutes. I find it to be as effective for me as when I was doing cardio for an hour 6 days a week. Good luck! I struggle w/ the time thing and look forward to having more time to exercise( though it makes me sad too because that means my babies are growing up. lol)

  8. lol, maybe!

I had a teacher in 6th grade who did that. SOmething about Nostradamus. We're all gonna be dead due to ice age and nukes by a particular date. Yada yada. Scared me so bad. That teacher was a nut but she continued teaching for a few more years. (She also threw books at kids, but that's a whole nuther story.)
