  1. My 8yo dd struggles to clean her room without it going under the bed, in the closet, in the corner etc.....

she thinks if the middle of the floor is clean then it's good enough:001_huh:

She has a place for everything so why can't she put it there? She has a bad habit of dragging out too much stuff and then is overwhelmed trying to put it all away where it goes.

I find legos, playmobil in her dresser drawers :tongue_smilie: and she KNOWS where it goes... there are designated containers for each....

Just curious how your 7-8 year olds (she just turned 8) do in cleaning their room...

  2. I am looking to possibly buy a 10" tablet..... not sure which one to get and what size I want???

I am looking at the Toshiba Thrive....love that the memory is expandable on it and I think it's the only one that has all the ports...

If I went with the Thrive would 8gb suffice since I can expand the memory via external storage?

  3. can't you expand the storage capacity above what is internal on the Thrive? Still not sure what to do..... The Nook is ok for reading, I would LOVE something larger but not as bulky as my laptop..... just not sure if it's worth spending $400 on

I would have to use it for more than just surfing the web in order to justify the expense..... I am thinking maybe some planning type apps that aren't feasible to use on the Itouch b/c of it's size????

  4. DS was given an old cassette tape player/recorder to him by his grandma....he loves that thing....he has a tape and loves recording himself on it. Well...My mom is giving 13yo ds an acoustic guitar for Christmas. I know he is going to want to record himself playing so I am wondering what the best way to do say is?? Would an Ipod touch be a good option? Is there something better but yet affordable ;)

  5. We bought a refurb ipod touch..... trying to set it up but I have a MAJOR problem

I can't set it up on our MAC with our current version of Itunes (it's telling me I need the current Itunes) but I can't UPGRADE either because we need Mac version osx 10.5 and we have 10.4.11 :001_huh:

    :glare::confused::001_huh:

  6. I know there are some apps ONLY for the ipad but how many "good" educational ones work for the Ipod touch?

Right now we are debating the ipad vs the ipod touch because I want access to the apple apps. Ipod touch is more in the budget but I don't wanna regret it and wish I had gotten the Ipad.

Also, anybody have a child/children that were bothered by the size of the screen on the ipod? I know people use them all the time and the iphone for apps but I as just wondering...

    Thanks

  7. thanks everyone....YES we do have more "technology" than some..... wish we didn't have it though.... and I hate feeling the "pull" to get MORE :001_huh:

I seriously want to take the Ipod touch back, it's unopened. I know we don't NEED it....

I am seriously considering getting rid of the PS2.... the Wii we do use for netflix viewing though..

The TV will stay....even though it's an old tube type..LOL... and is barely working...

The NOOK color.... I now realize we could have done fine without it :tongue_smilie:

  8. I'm talking Ipads, ipods, e readers, smart phones, gaming systems etc...

I want to simplify our life a lot but it's hard when the world throws all these neat gadgets at you..... and everyone around you convinces you how wonderful they are

Granted, I know some have a LOT of great stuff to offer..... but in my house they seem to create chaos.... We don't have smart phones or ipads....we have laptop, nook color and a Wii and PS.

We had bought the kids an Ipod touch but I have serious hesitation. I wanted them to have something to access the apple apps and this was in our budget....but honestly those apple apps are NOT necessary..... I know we can learn just fine without them. I also know there is other great stuff on there but honestly I am a pen and paper kinda girl.

I know a lot of you have all this great, wonderful stuff and I hope I'm not offending you :001_smile: I'm just curious if there is anybody out there like me??

    Debbie

  9. I have ordered the kids a refurbished Ipod touch to share..... don't want to get them each one and can't afford to either. I have been contemplating the Ipad refurbs though.... but that is even more $$ and would really make things tight for buying much more for them.

I am wanting it mainly to access the Apple apps.... some music for my 13yo ds....and probably some music for Me :001_smile: doubt it will be used for internet usage much. We already have nook color, laptop and desktop that does that.

In that case would you stick with the cheaper option...Ipod touch??? I guess this size of the touch makes me question keeping it vs getting Ipad. Afraid it's going to be too small for them to enjoy the apps on.
