  1. A PP said that no one ever walked in and voted in someone else's place. Um, not true here! I went to vote in the Primary after we were married (after changing my residence to here) and someone HAD voted in my place, just an hour earlier! I was not allowed to cast my ballot. There was no such thing as a provisional ballot in those days. I was just out of luck. When it came down to the general election, I voted when the polls opened, so as to deter the previous jerk.

Disclaimer: Not trying to be snarky...

Is it possible that the person checking in voters marked the wrong person's name? (I've seen that happen here...it was pointed out and corrected.)

  2. The books range in difficulty. Astronomy and Zoology 1 are supposed to be the easiest. Botany and the other Zoology books in the middle. Anatomy is the hardest.

:iagree: -- I don't think I'd start with Anatomy if I were in your shoes. (I'd probably choose either Astronomy or Botany.)

I agree with the previous poster who recommended the Junior Journals. :)

  3. - Do I dare take the kids to Awana tomorrow night? It seems like people go to activities before they are completely well.

My kids have had 3 colds already and the only place we go is church!

    - Am I paranoid to just skip out and hibernate at home for the rest of the week to prevent sickness?

After all, Michelle Duggar's gonna be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What would you do??

I would keep the kids home from Awana.

    No, you're not paranoid. :tongue_smilie:

I would go and enjoy Michelle Duggar... :001_smile:

  4. Doesn't always happen. I didn'tt know they were going to be beaming laser lights. I knew the concert would be loud, but why this is the first time it actually triggered her I can't explain. She's been to NUMEROUS concerts and broadway plays.

But if you want to blame me, you go ahead.

It was a wonderful opportunity for her and we will likely go again the next election.

It isn't about blame -- I was just curious. My daughter has similar reactions and we avoid triggers like the plague. (her request NOT my mandate ;))

  5. I really, really think this is what is going on. The triggers, all of which are migraine AND vasovagal triggers, are LOUD noise, bright flashing lights (both from concert, and all the patriotic noise during the speech was as bad or worse), dehydration, extreme fatigue.

OK -- so I have to ask: you knew your daughter had these reactions to noise and lights and you took her anyway? :001_huh:

  6. Then I think you need to re-explain place value in very simplistic terms until he gets it. I understand why he said 2. He doesn't understand how decimal points work as far as place value. I would show him in fractions what the decimal places mean as part of your explanation. I'd have him repeat back to me the place value of every single digit in a whole list of numbers, with and without decimal places until I was sure he understood.

:iagree: -- it sounds like he is struggling with place value. I don't think Saxon is the issue...I'd stick with it.

  7. We vote at the Town Office/Fire Station. (one building w/ combined use)

Our tiny, local library has baked goodies to sell. I *love* supporting them.

    Headed out right now...:auto:

OK -- so I'm back from voting and this year the bake sale goes to the Women's Club.:001_huh::glare:

  8. :iagree: that cost creeps up as you approach Jr. High/Middle School and High School.

I have also noticed on a couple of occasions there is one company in particular that charges outrageous $$ (in my opinion) for their materials and I have made the conscious decision to either find it used OR choose something else.

  9. I finally signed James up for an enrichment class through the homeschool charter. We get to the classroom and the wonderful instructor is chewing gum. James has a major aversion to gum chewing so we politely asked him to stop. He refused because he needs it to keep his wet mouth for the entire class. So we left. Went by the Visions office to let them know about the instructor not being accommodating. I considered it unprofessional but realize that he didn't have to accommodate a single person since it wasn't bothering anyone else. Just ticks me off.

    I'm "gobsmacked"...I can't imagine... :001_huh:

On the way home, my 16 year old car takes a dump. Alternator light, fuel light go on, overheating, power steering gone. Turn on the heat to cool down the engine enough to get home. Made it, call hubby who is coming home to deal with it since he didn't want to go to work in the first place. He was at a 3 day conference and tired, so really didn't want to deal with the shop.

    Kids and cars. Oy!

Sorry about your car...sounds like you might have lost a belt...hopefully you didn't crack the block by continuing to drive it after it overheated.
