Alphaphonics has been successful for 3 children. Easy, no frills. I added ETC A,B,C and 1,2,3 so far for my ds4 though it was not necessary. I use the alphaphonics readers, bob books then other easy readers. I also use Mcguffey readers through the years.

Yes I would let the librarian know if I were you. They would take care of it and are usually happy you told them rather than letting it go undetected.

I love dansko but found a better fit with sanita when I needed another pair recently. They are very comfortable.

My kids do kumon and it has helped their mastery of the basics. They practice daily and go to the center twice a week. It cost $90/month per subject.
For us it helped us take care of the basics and now I have to work it assures me something is getting done. It also helps with discipline I believe.

I have both and have used them loosely over the years. Strayor upton is only 3 books and Rays is more I think. Also The problems in Rays is more ancient than the other. Otherwise they are very similar. I found Strayor upton is easier to teach from.

At that age I let them play with a quiet toy like trains, cars etc while I read. I had a small tub of little cars, animals etc for that purpose. We usually read in the play area, on the floor, during meals, bath time and just about any time I had them reasonably confined :001_smile:

we love cle here too. we have used 6 and 7 and beginning of 8. Definitely not a workbooky type of program. My children enjoy the stories and the work is challenging enough. We also use robinson curriculum each year after we finish the CLE units.

thanks I'll check ebay too

my older ds 12 has used lof fractions and decimals. He started alg after singapore 6 but found it difficult due to topics he had not covered yet. He would like to go back to it so we would use it again after sing. discovering math 1. For my next dd 11 I would have her do lof fractions, decimals and pre algebra this summer b4 starting beg. alg.

Great, we would try that today. I just have a hard time starting things without clear step by step plans :)

congratulations to both of you.

Most definitely yes. :)

how do you start using these. I have the card games and the activities for the abacus. I don't know where to start. My son is learning begining addition and subraction with another program and I don't want to get yet another math program.
How do you supplement with these?
Thanks.

We use Robinson and have successfully downloaded quite a few books from the web to our sony reader and kindle on IPAD. We also tried one of the books on the reader that comes with the ipad and we love it.

congratulations.

We really like Meaningful Compositions. I use it for myDD struggling writer and my DS who loves writing. My DD loves it and it have improved her free writing too.

We just continue till we are done with the year, then celebrate. My kids love new books and we also celebrate the new year no matter when it falls. We school year round but take breaks as needed, more in the summer. We slow down in the summer and do only 1/2- 1/3 the amount of work.
For phonics/ spelling I use megawords for my older ones and ETC 3 for my 4 yr old. These have worked well for us.
