  1. Oh I'm anxious to see this one! My DB & SIL are coming to stay with us for a week in early September and she's been eating gluten-free for several months. What a wonderful way to bless her with some yummy gluten free meals she perhaps was not expecting!
  2. I forgot to mention one my youngest son loved: Dinosaur Cove! 39 Clues - somewhat, all Shel Silvertein books, The Berenstein Bears, A to Z Mysteries, and Magic School Bus. And both of my boys enjoyed this little series about a dragon named Danny and his variety of animal friends. The series is a cute, little, young series called Dragonbreath- his last name. (http://ursulavernon.com/node/8).
  3. :iagree: My boys have enjoyed some of the original Hardy Boys series (and I mean literally some of the ones my older brothers read when we were growing up...love it!) and they enjoyed the new Secret Files series written about the young Hardy boys when they were first beginning!
  4. I worked from home as a business writer for several years before starting my doctorate in Christian Psychology. I wrote newsletters, marketing pieces, presentations, and grants. In college I wrote for our year book, and later became the editor of our college paper. I wrote lots of pieces for both of those and enjoyed it immensely! Most recently I wrote an eBook on couponing in less than 2 extra hours per week. It teaches organizing, reading Qs, stacking, using free tools online, and spending far less money on far more products. I know, most of what I write is boring to most, but I enjoy it :) Honestly, I enjoy editing more than writing
  5. We are Life Covenant Academy. We discussed and decided we were committing to a life of learning. I love reading all the great names :)
  6. One more thing I neglected that is important. I was on Synthroid for 2 years and my numbers were "great". They were within the range and per the charts, everything was fine. However, I still had every single symptom (and the list was long) that I had before starting the journey to find out what was going on in my body! After I talked to my doc about my concerns and deciding to try Amour instead (a dessicated natural thyroid medication) I finally began to actually see relief!! I am down to just a couple of lingering issues (hair loss was one of the early symptoms to show and one of the last to ease up...I'm sorry) and I am thrilled to say that nearly every single other symptom is gone! I'm working on my last 10 pounds of weight to lose (my weight gain was the final straw that drove me to the doc - I had gained over 30 pounds in less than 5 months - more than with either of my twin pregnancies throughout the whole pregnancy!) I won't bore you with the long list, but I one thing I am glad I did was print a list of common symptoms off the website I gave you and I used that to track my progress. I would put a date at the top of the column and how it was improving, or not. There are probably lots of cool apps for your phone or on the web these days that you can track all that. Don't hesitate to ask anything you think of and I'll be happy to share what my experience has been. Of course, that's all it is, my experience. :D
  7. I follow my thyroid numbers closely and will say this right off the bat. The "normal" range is wide and what is normal for you may not be another person's norm. The range for TSH is .450 - 4.5 (although there are some docs moving to the "new" approved range of .25 - 5.0 as so much is being debated on how different we all are). The range for T4, Free is .82 - 1.77 and T3, Free is 2. - 4.4 A small change in thyroid meds (I'm a big all natural thyroid meds nut rather than synthetic) can make a big change in your thyroid function. The list is long for all the ways an ill functioning thyroid can show itself in your body. If you haven't found http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ check it out. It has a ton of information. Just keep digging... I can talk thyroid all day :) We have deep history in my family on my mother and father's sides. And even still, I feel like there is soooo much I don't know! :) Catherine
  8. Hello everyone! My first post is one begging for help. I feel great about most of the courses I have chosen for my sons, but I'm concerned over what to choose when it come to science. We are in GA and everyone (public, private, homeschool) takes the CRCT 1st, 3rd, 5th grades and so on. My son's have always excelled on the exams (and every test, to be frank) while in brick and mortar. How do I choose curriculum that will meet the needs to teach them what they need to know and yet also stay true to my Creation/Christian based curriculum desires. I'll have one taking the CRCT this year and although I want to go with Apologia b/c it looks interesting, exciting, hands on, and true to the Word; I also want to be sure I'm adequately preparing him for this test at the end of the year. Help! Catherine P.S. This is our second year of homeschooling. I have two boys who are 3rd and 4th grade. My 3rd grader is rapidly catching up to my 4th grader and will be in the same grade level by mid-year (I'm predicting based on last year). They are both accelerated learners and enjoy homeschooling. TIA!
