  1. No judgement please as we are not going to change someone who is very stuck in their ways for many decades.

I need a little help or ideas if you have please.  I need snack ideas for someone with type 2 diabetes that meet these requirements-

Nothing that an extremely picky toddler wouldn’t eat.  They hate most things except for cheese it’s, goldfish, chips , pretzels, and cookies.

Nothing from the sea or related to hummus.

Fruit has to be watched as they tend to over eat at the few fruits they eat and get sick.

I don’t even mind prepackaged foods if that helps.

Thanks in advance.  I know those of us taking care of her will appreciate any ideas.

Thanks for any ideas in advance and I appreciate the no judgement.

I forgot to add no artificial sugars as they irritate her IBS.

  3. Take a look at the Traverse.   I have been extremely happy with it.  It can hold a lot and tall people.  When the third row is up, even my son can fit comfortably back there ( 6ft and all legs/arms).

If this helps with visualization- last year I was able to comfortably carry several teens and their renaissance gear, a large cooler and costume changes with plenty of extra room.

  4. We felt it at work.  Watching the ceiling tiles bounce and if the glass display cabinet from the 70s was going to fall off the wall.  The building really shook and then all the animals were very nervous for the rest of the day.

My kids were hilarious texting me-

Mom, I think I just survived an earthquake.  Don’t worry I am alive. And so are the dogs

Mom, I think we had an earthquake.  I checked the house and the walls were still up and nothing fell.  Same with the neighbor’s house.  Can I have tacos for lunch?

  5. I work as a vet tech and while part of me would love to go on to be a vet, the practical part of me sees how stressful it is and I don’t want any that.

Perhaps, she might take a look at veterinary sonography.  We have one that comes into our practice and the job is fascinating.  The lady who does ours has talked with us before how she wanted to be a vet but turned to this after volunteering at a practice years ago.  I don’t know about Canada but we could use a few more here.

  6. Try spraying the cat’s carrier with feliway.  It does help a bit to came cats down.  We use it in our cat exam room at the vet.  That along with some medication, we can usually get even our spicy cats to work with us.

  7. If he can eat oatmeal-  add Quest cinnamon crunch protein powder to it.  No protein powder taste and we are going on three years of someone not knowing it is added.

  8. Loaded baked potato soup

I found this to be one of the easiest ones to add more protein/veggies to and it still looks the same.  I added chicken and used the immersion blender to make everything smooth.

Forgot to mention we are in zone 7b. We can't quite plant year round but we do have a nice long growing season. We usually do not get more than frost from this point in winter into spring.

I have peat moss to work on the acidity of the soil.

I had heard that raspberries and blackberries shouldn't be planted together. I haven't quite decided on layout yet. Since I just have the one raspberry, should I go get another? They only had one variety, 'Red Lantham', should I look for a different variety to go with it like the blueberries?

Any tips or hints for deer and rabbits? I am afraid I'm just setting up a salad bar for the local wildlife, lol!

I have a variety of blueberries and raspberries (zone 7a/7b).  You can plant now.  I have frost bags for them that I use the first year in the ground to help.  The only thing you have to really have to worry about is the dang birds eating the berries as they just about ready to be picked. The deer and rabbits leave them alone.  So get a berry net to throw on them during berry season.  And you can sprinkle fresh cut human hair to keep your rabbits if you have a curious rabbit.

The blackberries will try to take over the other berries so they are across the yard from each other.

I choose different varieties as I like to have different types but you don’t need too. Pink Lemonade Blueberries and Golden Raspberry are a nice addition to the garden.

I don’t know if this is the same but sounds like it might be:

    mammary duct ectasia

It’s mastitis in a non-lactating woman. I had it many years ago when my youngest was 9 or 10. I took antibiotics to clear it, but since it’s so rare I also had to do some elaborate cancer screening stuff.

Same with a very good friend.  Took her multiple visits to different breast specialists as it was something they hadn’t seen before.  Only the one guy knew exactly what it was.  After the antibiotics, no more issues.

They have known for quite awhile that SARS-Cov2 affects the pancreas. This is related to the increase in diabetes diagnoses post covid and the difficulty already-diagnosed diabetics can have controlling their blood sugars after covid. They have also seen an increase in pancreatic cancer diagnoses in people after they have had covid. The hard thing with this illness, is even if the chance of a terrible outcome like pancreatic cancer is small, with the disease running rampant and infecting almost everyone over and over, that ends up being a significant number of people affected.

Personally, I noticed the increased before Covid.

If it is, I really wonder if there has been an uptick in this.  I know 3 people with it: One died within a few months and two were recently diagnosed and are not doing well.  It just feels so prevalent.

I have noticed an uptick of recent pancreatic cancer diagnosis here as well.  We were just talking about this at one of our specialists appointments.

  13. For any website-  I hate it when it takes a solid 20 minutes to find out the basic information that should be right there.  The local church one the other day left me so frustrated just trying to find out when a meeting for a group was taking place.  I gave up after 30 minutes including phone call that said check the website as it probably has it.
