  1. Thank you! I kept thinking this question is written wrong, but figured I was missing something.
  2. So we are having a debate here and would love some help. Here is the math problem: Rena had some Brazil and Canada stamps. 4/7 of the stamps were Brazil stamps and the rest were Canada stamps. She gave away 1/12 of the Canada stamps to her best friend. What fraction of the Canada stamps did she have left? The book says the answer is 27/28 and one person here came up with the answer being 11/28 and the other with 11/12. A little help to end the debate please!
  3. I was just correcting an English assignment and I wasn't sure if that sentence was correct or not. They are always trying to confuse me! :-P
  4. Thank you! That's what I thought, but I'm not the best with grammar.
  5. Which is correct? There is no way in to this 1400 square foot house. There is no way into this 1400 square foot house.
  6. I love my book lists too much probably. I currently have an excel sheet open that I add to that probably has 12,000 books on it that I want to kids to read. It all started because my oldest was constantly asking for more books and saying she was done with what I gave her. I needed to start the list so I didn't have to figure this stuff out off the top of my head. I didn't want her to just read anything you know. So now she can look at the list to pick an already Mom-approved book to read. Helps me out so much, but now it's an obsession of mine. lol
  7. I was wondering if there were any full-color lapbooks for MOH. Something that a kid doesn't have to color and will look interesting so that they will want to go back and review what they've worked on. The boy just doesn't like to color... or write for that matter. :-P lol
  8. Thank you for these suggestions. I think I have many leads of books that will support the everyday reminders. Sometimes they just don't 'get it' from Mom and Dad and a book helps. :-)
  9. I'm curious if there are any good curriculums out there for boys about modesty. I would especially love any suggestions for young boys, but older boy ones will be checked out and possibly used too. Thank you for the help!
  10. I was in your shoes when my oldest daughter was in K. I got her the apologia exploring creation books and journals and she took off. She would read the book to herself and I would read it to her again (mostly because I wanted to know what she was doing) and she would fill in the journal and do the experiments with me. It's worded nicely so beginners can understand but the info goes deep so that it isn't baby-ish. She loved being a scientist with her own journal and she still loves looking through her old ones and working on new ones...(we can't wait for the chem./physics one coming out soon!)
  11. I'm looking for math-related history and LA. Sorry for not being clear.
  12. It could be math or science or both. :-) I will check those out. Thank you!
  13. My K and 1st graders have the regular notebooks and love filling them out...but they both like to write and memorize things so take that into consideration. They also love to draw pictures on the pages and color them of the different birds/insects. It has worked great for us and they have learned so much. Two weeks has seemed to be the perfect amount of time for them to complete all the pages for a chapter in the notebooks and we love it.
  14. Is there any such thing out there? I would love to find an elementary curriculum that focuses on math and/or science and covers history and language arts through the study of math and science. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Thanks everyone! I will pass on the suggestions to her. :-)
  16. I'm passing on a question for a missionary friend of mine. Is there a boxed curriculum that is made for a kid that can read a few levels above the grade level they are in for everything else?
  17. A homeschool conference is a good way to be able to hold the books before you buy them, but buying books online is what I usually do. I usually find the best deals at https://heartsathomestore.com/ for the books that I'm looking for.
  18. There are a few biologist that do know how to explain things to people who don't know bio...I consider myself to be one of them. :-) Maybe I should write a bio book someday. I like one on one in person so much better though.
  19. I wasn't really planning on writing anything, but you never know. Maybe I will someday. I've been working on editing some homeschool textbooks and it just got me thinking about this topic so I decided to find out what other people were thinking about this topic.
  20. This sounds awesome too! Though I don't do secular homeschooling, I do always insist that everything be inquiry based with studying and experiments written about in a little notebook. I would love a science program that is more 'real' with all the sciences together as in nature and living books/documentaries. The part about including the periodic table and discovery boxes is especially exciting to me. Great ideas!
  21. This is for fun, but be specific about what homeschooling curriculum you'd love to see come out. For instance, you could say you want a new geography book written because all the books you've seen don't have enough maps, accurate country history, pictures, or they've all been too text-booky. Please don't say something like a one word answer of geography. Have fun with it!
