I have high frequency hearing loss and those letters get mixed up for me. I really can't differentiate them. I would definitely look into doing a hearing test!

What about doing just the odd problems in MM6. If there is an area he flounders, then you can focus on that area? This is what I'm considering. He really got bogged down with MM5 (newest version)

We are having the same experience. I actually bought TT7 to try a different and more spiral approach. At 30 days, ds decided it wasn't working for him and we sent it back. We are back to MM6. Hoping the update she recently did will fix these issues. Or perhaps I should consider Dolcani preAlgebra which I have.

I would keep him working on math in the summer (I always have my kids working on math through summer). This is assuming you typically stop for summer break.

My kids and I are really enjoying BJU science. The 8th grade level is earth science. You can go with or without video instruction but I hear Mrs. Vick is great

I would keep them all on the same history cycle as a long-term goal. I'd do year four for the oldest and do Something else for the youngers. Perhaps countries and cultures, NZ history, or some other topic to explore.

If you do it, definitely just order the exclusives from them and source the books yourself. It sounds like, from your other thread, that the program itself is good!
I have to say, the website setup is terrible! It was pretty simple a year ago when I considered the Quest through Middle Ages program.

The Westing Game is good as an audio book because of the many different characters. The narrator gives each one a uniques accent/voice

We used R&S 4 with me teaching the lesson. If he likes independent work, he could probably do it independently

Hake can be pretty independent, but my kids prefer the style if R&S lessons. Hake has a LOT of review. We are going back to R&S next year. We also liked FLL.

I just pick a couple from VP to do to per year. I typically have them do one "lesson" (which usually equates to one chapter) per day. I mostly just want my kids to love reading, and to read increasingly challenging works (as well as good quality literature). We throw in a couple lit guides just to make sure they get some practice in :)

first of all - big hugs to you! I totally understand why you have been protecting dd from her all this time. I think you are wisest in the situation since you have been living it all this time. Trusting your gut that it is time for her to understand the truth about SIL sounds right.

We will be doing Science 6 this year. Last year we did grade 5 with books only. It went well for their first formal science, but I can see that we would need more at the higher levels. I already have all of the books for grade 6 (old version) so will probably buy the online DL version of BJU science 6 which is $250. Yikes! At least I am combining my kiddos. So far DD has been able to keep up. I hope to continue to combine them both at DS's grade level becuase they like doing science together.
The investigations is just the labs. It sees like it might be a good option, but the full video set would have so much more instruction. Best wishes! Thanks for this thread too.

Awesome!
I set it up last summer. I had lesson plans for history and science as excel embedded spreadsheets and could view our daily assignments through the ipad app. It made life easy all year!

It is scary at first! Such a big responsibility. I'm slowly realizing that my kids are who they are. While it is my job to,challenge them and educate them, I am not applying a formula for a perfect finished product. My kids will excel in some areas but not all. My children may or may not prove to be "distinguished" or "exceptionally exceeds" kids! Kindergarten should be fun. The younger years are the perfect time to teach them a Heart for learning! It sounds like you are doing just great
