  1. In answer to EXCELSIOR! ACADEMY ~ Hi, You can follow the link that Kay in KS posted: http://www.thebooksamaritan.com/ They accept donations for anything that is used for homeschool. The Book Samaritan started as an outreach to help many homeschooling families who have suffered from the devastating natural disasters experienced throughout the USA, death in the family, severe illness, unemployment, etc... You mail your books to them and they will mail a receipt if it is requested. It is a small organization with few people but they have a huge outreach so things can go slow - so be patient. :) Their church pays for the shipping fees to the homeschool families requesting assistance. I would suspect this could add up quickly.... Because I hadn't heard from them, I was afraid they were no longer able to continue helping those in the homeschool community. I have been so thankful to send our materials to them for the last few years so others who need it can use it! Hope this helps! :) 3 Blessings
  2. UPDATE: (Oct. 01, 2012 pm) I knew this would happen.....the very day I finally decide to ask about TBS on the boards my receipt came in the mail..... :) Thank you, ladies, for your responses (posts & PM's). This should confirm to others that The Book Samaritan is still accepting donations. I am sorry to hear about the damage to the office and computers, etc... I hope all is okay! Have a great day!! :)

Have a great day!! :) Hi Ladies, Does anyone know if THE BOOK SAMARITAN in Oklahoma is still accepting homeschool book donations? I have donated the last three years and each time I heard from them within 1 to 3 months (they have very few assisting with the donations). However, this year there has been no response from them in six months (email, letter, or otherwise). Just a bit concerned...... A telephone # would be helpful for contacting, but none is listed on the website. Does anyone know if there is a phone # to use? Anyone know anything????? Thanks, 3 Blessings :) (Posted on General Board, too...)

  5. I am looking for a CURRENT coupon code for the Math on the Level (MOTL) math series. Has anyone seen one in any of the homeschool magazines: Old Schoolhouse, or others? Thank you!
  6. Is it realistic to purchase grades 4,6,8 and have grammar covered or is it best to purchase each grade level and use as is? I remember the books repeating a large amount of information each year. Which seems a bit redundant when schooling year-round. I am trying to save a bit when I order the texts. What do you R&S users think? Thanks for the input! :)
  7. Do I really need a student pack for each child??? For those who bought them did you use them?
  8. I just had this talk with one of my children this afternoon while walking by our pond!! I will have her read this!!
  9. They have this coupon code box but I don't know where to get one for a discount.....
  10. I posted this on the WTB board as well but..... I am looking for Lois Lenski's "ShooFly Girl" in hardcover in nice, clean condition. It is a gift for my daughter. Thanks! :)
  11. I'm sure glad I saw your post! I was wondering how I could include my youngest in our older children's science readings. I have had this for quite a while but never used it; but now, however, this will help me to include our youngest. The lessons are laid out nicely and in a logical order, but you can also skip around if you want to which is probably what I will be doing to fit the order of the science texts our older ones are using.
  12. As an addendum to my previous post, is "Understanding Mathematics" worth purchasing? For those of you who may have it is it truly helpful or just another expense? We are moving into new areas and I am a bit shaky in the knees.....!
  13. I would like to know if anyone has used or currently uses the book ~ "Thinking Physics" ~ as a supplement, and if so, what you liked/disliked about it. Has it truly helped visualize physics and help with thinking? Thank you!
