In answer to EXCELSIOR! ACADEMY ~ Hi, You can follow the link that Kay in KS posted: http://www.thebooksamaritan.com/ They accept donations for anything that is used for homeschool. The Book Samaritan started as an outreach to help many homeschooling families who have suffered from the devastating natural disasters experienced throughout the USA, death in the family, severe illness, unemployment, etc... You mail your books to them and they will mail a receipt if it is requested. It is a small organization with few people but they have a huge outreach so things can go slow - so be patient. :) Their church pays for the shipping fees to the homeschool families requesting assistance. I would suspect this could add up quickly.... Because I hadn't heard from them, I was afraid they were no longer able to continue helping those in the homeschool community. I have been so thankful to send our materials to them for the last few years so others who need it can use it! Hope this helps! :) 3 Blessings

Is it realistic to purchase grades 4,6,8 and have grammar covered or is it best to purchase each grade level and use as is? I remember the books repeating a large amount of information each year. Which seems a bit redundant when schooling year-round. I am trying to save a bit when I order the texts. What do you R&S users think? Thanks for the input! :)

I'm sure glad I saw your post! I was wondering how I could include my youngest in our older children's science readings. I have had this for quite a while but never used it; but now, however, this will help me to include our youngest. The lessons are laid out nicely and in a logical order, but you can also skip around if you want to which is probably what I will be doing to fit the order of the science texts our older ones are using.

As an addendum to my previous post, is "Understanding Mathematics" worth purchasing? For those of you who may have it is it truly helpful or just another expense? We are moving into new areas and I am a bit shaky in the knees.....!

I would like to know if anyone has used or currently uses the book ~ "Thinking Physics" ~ as a supplement, and if so, what you liked/disliked about it. Has it truly helped visualize physics and help with thinking? Thank you!

Not anymore ~ I'm not comfortable with how much they want to know and insist on every vaccination.

Additional thoughts: I prefer a book because that is what I am used too...however, one of my concerns is that I will not be able to tell my son the "why" of what we are doing other than saying "because that is the way the steps go!" So...what interested me most while researching the Videotext series is VT mentions that it focuses on relations between math concepts ~ seeing the larger picture. I am certain this would have helped me when I was taking Algebra and Geometry. With that, does VT really help someone see the bigger picture and does it really contribute to strengthening analytical thinking?

I am preparing for Algebra. Any thoughts pros and cons to Videotext Algebra? I could really use some thougtful input ~ Thank you! :)

Our chldren act the same. They have a healthy respect for both of us. Dad does tend to play more though because his day ends when he comes home, but a mom's keeps going! :) I am truly thankful for the work of my hands.

I have purchased at least 30 items from Amazon Marketplace and I have been very happy with each one so far. I did puchase from a 94% rated seller once because most of the feedback was actually rating the post office's slow delivery. The transaction was timely and exactly as described; but normally I try to buy from those with a 98% or better rating.

I am considering purchasing these but before I do I would like input on what others thought of them who have heard these. Thank you so much!
