  1. From what I have heard over the last couple of days, it seems there is growing pains and mis information.

Growing pain are occuring as these countries are adjusting to a new normal. The people of Libya have taken to the streets to reject the violence of a small group of people. As the people of Libya continue to stand up to the thugs, things will improve for everyone. Likewise, as Egypt allows peaceful protest yet takes a stand against violence, the government will gain maturity. (Didn't we have the some growing pains when we broke away from England?)

I saw an interview with "the man on the street" where protestor claimed that the film came from the US government and claimed it was illegal in the US to make derogatory remarks about jewish people. I was shocked by the wrong ideas they have about the US.

I agree with Osmosis Mom. The access to the internet will help dispel misinformation about the US and the Middle East and is the best hope for peace.

  2. I used Jenney's Latin in my high school so I have a background in Latin.

We have been using Cambridge and we are in Stage 3 of book 1. I really like it so far. I like the stories. We have the student book, teacher manual, test and CD. I probably would not get the CD again.

I have also found this on youtube:

I have watched through Stage 3 videos and it has been helpful.

  3. The people at Kinetic Books were wonderful.

They made my account a teacher account. In the homework function, I set up my class. Then I added my daughter to my course by entering her email address. It gave me a temporary password for her account. I had her change her password to something she could remember.

The total cost for $64.95 for the course and $40 for the homework option.

  4. I had to chuckle about "learning to get up for work". When I graduated from college and went to work in the "real" world, I worked a rotating shift. I slept and got up at a different time each week.

I had an interesting follow up session with my girls where we discussed how people are not all on the same schedule but adults learn to fulfill their obligations. Nurses work all types of crazy schedules. Truck drivers plan their routes based on traffic.

The teacher seemed very attached to the group learning idea of other students presenting good questions. I just do not remember getting that much interaction in the classroom as a kid. Maybe things have changed?

  5. If you have not made your position perfectly, excruciatingly clear, then now is the time to do so.

And even if she is the female version of Hitler, she's still your Mom. You respect the position/rank, if not the person.

To get respect, you must give respect. A parent that acts so vile does not deserve respect. I have lived this and I understand for my own mental health and the mental health of my family, I have cut ALL ties.

Society does not understand how one can turn away from a parent. Abuse is abuse wether is comes from a spouse or a parent. No one has the right to make you feel like dirt.

I suggest you read up on sociopaths before posting again so you can gain some understanding just how horrible they can be.

    Hugs to you, Impish.
