  1. Our twin boys had a case of yeast last year (BOTH of them!!:001_huh:). Definitely calls for a visit to the doc! However, one tip that I can pass on is to apply PLAIN, GOOD-QUALITY yogurt directly to the affected area. This seemed to sooth our babies, and the "good bacteria" in the yogurt supposedly went to work battling the yeast. Our doc prescribed Nystantin. With her approval, we applied the Nystantin, then later in the day (after cleaning the area) we did a round of yogurt, and then later another round of Nystantin, etc. Also, since yeast can be tough to kill, she recommended breaking open a capsule of Multidolpholus (found at health food stores) and sprinkling on the area once or twice daily. We were diligent to "keep after it," and eventually we won the battle! That's our experience. Hope the little guy gets well! (P.S. -- If his doc's diagnosis is yeast, do NOT use baby powder, corn starch, etc. ...these will aggrevate it!)
  2. We enjoy listening to the Majerus family's CD entitled "His Workmanship"... lots of scripture songs. You can google MAJERUS FAMILY MUSIC and find them easily. They offer free downloads on their web site.:)
  3. Two good sources that we refer to frequently are: Amblesideonline.org and www.classical-homeschooling.org/celoop/1000.html Hope these are helpful!
  4. We keep a big pot of parsley and a big pot of chives on our deck. Other than watering them, I don't do anything to them (except use them!!) They have come back year after year on their own. Very easy. (Parsley can't handle full sun, though.)
  5. Just a little FYI blurb...a few years ago, we asked our local greenhouse owner (small business) and gardening-guru, Stanley, about a good tomato variety to grow. His was reply was Mountain Fresh (or Mountain Spring) tomatoes. We grew them, loved them, and stuck with them ever since. We are located about 1 1/2 hours away from you, and they do very well here -- in pots or in ground. No cores, so every bit is usable! Just a handy tip for you.:001_smile:
  6. I am the wife of a FORMER (key word!) Baptist "youth pastor"...he was a youth pastor for 14 years. Throughout our journey in the ministry, we saw the realities of a flawed system. To get right to the point, "youth ministry" is not even a Biblical idea...you can't find scripture to support it. The only occurance in the Bible of a group of "youth" hanging-out together is in 2 Kings chapter 2, when a group of children mocked Elisha, the man of God, and ended up reaping their consequences by being attacked by bears! However, there are many instances in Scripture of children being with their parents in formal worship, not separated. True, in our years of youth ministry we saw some saved, and we saw some dedicate their lives to the Lord, many of which are still close to the Lord today, and we praise Him for it. But God can certainly save and change lives for Him without a flawed, "man-created" system such as "youth group." He doesn't need it. And truthfully, we can see now (looking back) that much harm came from it, in the form of heavy peer pressure, "family fragmenting" (as my husband likes to term it!), an ungodly atmosphere due to unsaved kids who are just there for the "entertainment" (such as is your concern). There are also many other underlying dangerous philosophies associated with "youth groups." An excellent read on this subject is THE SOCIALIZATION TRAP by Rick Boyer. And here is a video clip of a pastor speaking on this topic: http://scottbrownonline.com/voddie-baucham-on-youth-ministry/ By the way, my husband resigned from his position, and then we forged ahead to plant a family-integrated church in a different town. We focus on encouraging and ministrering to WHOLE families. It is a definite change from the previous "system" and very refreshing for all! Also by the way, I would strongly encourage you to NOT send your kiddos to youth group. I agree with the others wholeheartedly. Hope this is a help to your family. God bless. Also, by the way: Outreach can be done in many ways!! "Youth group" is not the only way to reach the unsaved teens.
