  1. I have the same problem. I can't get mine completely clean, but what helps a lot is to make a paste out of baking soda and water (a littler runnier than a paste) and boil it on the stove. As it boils, scrape the bottom. Repeat as needed. I found this online a few years ago. good luck!
  2. Since we started homeschooling and plan to continue, our plans of me going back to work once our kids are in school have been altered a bit. Does anyone have any unique/interesting ways to make some extra cash? I don't really want to start a business of my own (i.e. Mary Kay, etc.)
  3. We just started homeschooling and we'd love to continue. That means that our original plan to have me return to work full time after both of our kids are in school has to be altered a bit. Does anyone have any interesting/innovative/unique ways of making some extra money?
  4. We just started homeschooling and we'd love to continue. Right now we have a 3 year old so I'd be home with him anyway for another 2 years. We had always planned on me going back to work full time when our kids were in school, but now I'd like to stay home and continue homeschooling. I just dont' know if we can afford it. Do you have any interesting/rewarding/innovative ways to make some extra money?
  5. Not well, but not as bad as some other states (we're in PA). Our new governor has to cut $4 billion and has said that he's not raising taxes. He's already made it clear that a lot of cuts are coming from education. I'm so sick of politicians not realizing the importance of education. Makes me glad I homeschool, but it's just unacceptable.
  6. I love that website! I've gotten lots of stuff there in the past too.
  7. Hello. My dd is 6 and doing mostly late first grade/early second grade work. She is a very good reader and was reading chapter books by the last 2 months or so of kindergarten (public school. She was bringing home Cam Jansen, etc.) We use Spelling Workout 1, which we just finished, First Language Lessons, and SOTW 1. For reading I just have her read whatever we are working on. She reads and follows the directions for spelling and she reads the SOTW passages rather than me reading them to her. We still do a lot of reading out loud to her as well. Do I need a separate phonics program? I'm worried about her missing something and struggling later. (She reads SOTW with minimal help, and her comprehension of what she reads is pretty good. It's rare that I have to prompt her with questions to do her narrations). Thanks!
