Kilts are inevitable, and something we can unite behind.
I know what a kilt is, but it doesn't sound like you are referring to a skirt:001_huh:
-
I'm reasonably sure there's no Biblical stance on kilts.
?

You DO realize that you just ensured one will happen, right?
It's so hard for people to follow instructions:tongue_smilie:
-
No debate?
You must be new around here.
Nope! I'm not new. But I've read posts here and will not have any nastiness in this thread. Therefore, NO DEBATE!
-
No debate! I'm just wondering who thinks what and if they base it on scripture. I've seen it argued with options 1 and 2
Why I'm asking this question:
Someone I know believes Bible scripture tells us that a child is not living until it has taken it's first breath. Therefore, you are not killing a living being during abortion.

I still really struggle with the purpose of creating the world. Someone once told me that God created it because he didn't want to be alone. Technically he wasn't alone. Is this supposed to be a mystery?

Maybe my view on the meaning behind the crucifixion was/is too simple. I never thought God was mad so Jesus HAD to be sacrificed. God was angry in the OT-but according to Father-not so much. Anger and wrath are words that did not translate completely correct. His wrath was more of a corrective measure-not a punishment. Anywho..........I wasn't alive in the OT. I wasn't Adam or Eve. I wasn't alive when Christ was. Therefore, I have never viewed myself as personally responsible for God's anger in the Bible. Altho, I am a sinner-I am not the original reason Christ was killed. I haven't felt guilt for the sacrifice. I haven't felt that God was angry at ME. Am I missing something?
I understood Fathers analogy, but I don't understand who the servant represents or why there are 2 kings.

Thank you ladies!
Roller Skates is about an 11 yo girl in the 1890's who goes to stay with a women in NY while her parents travel for a year. It's actually quite neat. But for me and the kids it wasn't engaging at all.
We are also reading The Reluctant Dragon which is a picture book altho, lengthy. So far, it's not too fab either.
The only series my kids have LOVED is Toys Go Out. DS loved Wind in the Willows as did I.
None of us are fans of audio books, but I may have to give them another go.

I really like the Ancient Faith Radio podcasts. As I don't know these individuals I'm hesitant to recommend anything specific. Maybe Steve the Builder, At the Intersection of East and West, and/or Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy (this is fabulous seires and not judgmental at all).

Don't like it at all.

Def. praying! Please keep us posted.

Doesn't care for books like Roller Skates, The door in the Wall, etc. I don't know what you call these kinds of books with language that makes no sense to some children and stories that all of us seem to find very dry. We have attempted these two as read alouds as they go with our curriculum. Roller Skates we just tossed aside. I have a feeling we will do the same with The Door in the Wall even tho we have read only 3 chapters.

Krista-I want a demo too:) I'll try and remember to bring Headbandz (the game) for the kids.

Facing East. Hands down one of the best books I've ever read.

I thought this might be helpful to newbies like me.
Please speak out if any of these are wrong:001_smile:

I am going to attend on Thursday and have asked DH to go with me. He said he has no objection, but wants to see how his week goes.

LOL! I guess I never would have figured that one out:) I sure wish they had a quote button for groups. Sort of weird. And why limit us to 1000 characters?
-
But I did find this resource:
Healthy recipes from Rita Hanna-this is supposed to be updated online on her churches website, but so far I don't see anything.
-
There was a book I saw in the Narthex on Sunday that was full of Lent recipes, but I can't find it online anywhere.

Thank you SO much ladies!! I didn't know there was a saint tool♥

I'm going to have my kids learn about saints using something I purchased from CurrClick. Which saints from this list are used in Orthodoxy? If there are saints that are not part of the church would any of them be unwise to teach?

We are currently using Organic Homeschooling. We started Feb. today because we had to go to WA last week as DH's Gpa had a heart attack. Todays Bible story talked about the Tabernacle-using fine clothes, gold, silver, jewel tones and Aarons robes. It talked about incense. The Door in the Wall talked about Nones and Vespers, Church bells and churches named after Saints.
I would not have seen the significance of this had I not been part of this social group, joined the discussions or read the suggested books. I would not have been able to explain the significance to my children. I wouldn't even know that many of these things are Orthodox and why.

It depends on your views. Some believe #1 and point to scripture to prove it. Others believe #2 and point to scripture to prove it. If you support #2, the a child is not living until it has taken it's first breath. Thereby terminating it is not killing a living being.
