  1. I think you should be fine. We are doing Saxon K this year. We only have 2 weeks of lessons left and it is just now introducing digraphs. I know level 1 reviews quite a bit of K in the beginning of Saxon1 so I wouldn't worry. We love Saxon Phonics. My DS started off this year not knowing all of his letter and sounds and now he is reading. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
  2. Is La Clase Divertida Spanish secular?
  3. What grade did you start geography? What curriculum do you use? How many days a week do you do it? How many years is geography supposed to be taught? Thanks!
  4. We are in California and will be filing a private school affidavit next year. I would love to read those articles. Could you email them to me? I will PM you my email address. Thanks!
  5. Ellie, do you peel the potatoes first before you add the vinegar?
  6. Can you tell me your favorite potato salad recipe? Thanks!
  7. I don't plan on starting a formal science curriculum with my DS until 1st grade. I really love the look of Nancy Larson. Do you think it would be ok to skip Nancy Larson kindergarten and just start Nancy Larson 1? Does the k curriculum introduce material that is important in understanding level 1? I just don't want to start level 1 when he is in 1st grade and have him be totally lost because I didn't do the kindergarten level with him. Thanks!
  8. Thanks, Elemental Science looks great! I really like the look of Neo science, but was told it is not secular. Do they teach evolution?
  9. Does anyone have any recommendations for a science curriculum that is secular and follows the classical model of learning? It would be great if the lessons were pretty short and didn't take very much prep work. I know it is a lot to ask for, lol.
  10. Thanks everyone! I will continue to say uh and let him say what he feels more comfortable with.
  11. So there is no set rule? I want to make sure I am teaching my son right, lol. I was taught to say "uh", but now it looks as though this might just be the lazy way. My son always says "ay" and I find myself correcting him. It looks like he might be the right one after all.
  12. This might sound silly, but I have heard it pronounced different ways. When you read a sentence with the letter "a" all by itself how do you pronounce it? ex. The boy is wearing a hat. Do you say: long "a" sound short "a" sound or short "u" sound
  13. Is it best to start Latin before a modern foreign language like Spanish? What age is the best to start a foreign language? Is it difficult to teach both Latin and say Spanish at the same time? It seems like the child would become confused. Thanks!
  14. Are you teaching Latin? If not do you plan to? What age did your child start, or will they start? What curriculum do you use, or plan to use? Do you like it?
  15. My boys love them. I copy them so I can re-use for future children.
  16. Thanks. My oldest is starting kindergarten next year. I think I will probably wait until highschool to keep grades. I see no other reason why I would need to before then.
  17. What age/grade did you start keeping grades for your child? What was your grading scale? How did you record it? Did you use a special software or print out?
