  1. Anyone just use ETC to teach your child to read? If so, did you buy the teachers guide too? For those who didn't use it as a stand alone curriculum, what did you think it was lacking in?
  2. I am looking for something short and sweet for my soon to be 2nd grade son. I don't want anything with prep and no boring busy work. Maybe something that takes less than 10 minutes. Do you have any favorites out there that fits this criteria? Thanks!

  5. Do I need to buy both the workbook and the level 1-4 text, or can I get by with just the workbook?
  6. Do you think it would be okay to use level one of WWE and FLL for a second grader? I haven't done any formal writing and grammar curriculum for my son and was looking at different programs. I wasn't sure if I should skip the first level and go right into the second or start from the beginning so he doesn't miss anything.

  8. Does Saxon Math line up closely to the correct grade level or is it a little behind on state standards? I was just curious if Saxon Math 2 is good for second grade or if Saxon 3 is supposed to be used instead. Thanks!

  11. My friend lives in Texas and her son will be in 2nd grade. She wants to homeschool him next year. Does she have to notify the school district, or anyone for that matter, letting them know he won't be coming back? Also do you know of any groups, classes, or co-ops in the Austin area? Thanks!
  12. Is there any sites that having spelling word lists online? Maybe by grade? I don't want to do a formal spelling curriculum. I just want to practice words in our free time. Also, does anyone have any games or activities they would recommend that would help with spelling?

  14. I am looking for activities, games, books, ect. that your boys absolutely love and will play for hours at a time. ( Examples: legos, snap curcuits, experiment books, ect.) Thanks!

  16. Can anyone recommend any science activities/experiment books for ages 4-10? I ordered the Usborne science activity book 1 from Amazon and they cancelled my order saying that it was unavailable and they did not know when they could get it. Are there any others? Thanks!
