  1. Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I'll just have lettuce and tomato. That sounds good with lemon juice. No Trader Joe's here yet, but they are building one nearby. Yay!!! I'll have to remember that sauce when they open.
  2. After talking to a friend, she said she didn't use it and used the SWI just fine this past year. Did anybody else find this to be true? I would LOVE to just have to buy the SWI! So much easier to swallow $109 instead of $250.
  3. I have some family members who aren't adventurous in their eating, i.e.. sour cream based sauces, dressings, cole slaw, onion, etc... I am making fish tacos for dinner this week (first time to have them!) and am making slaw and a roumalade topping for me :001_smile:, but I was wondering if there were some simple toppings I could offer that might compensate for my less adventurous eaters? It just seems plain to eat fried fish on a taco with only lemon juice. Any ideas from other less adventurous eaters?
  4. We sound similar! :) I'm sure the theme books are great, but I like the complete teaching aspect of the main program. It just takes the pressure off of me, not completely I know, but I like that it does some. My time will be limited with a newborn and a 2 year old and teaching writing is something I need help teaching. The price isn't too bad when I break it down between the four kiddos who will be using it eventually, it's just hard to swallow at one time with everything else we have to buy for school and life in general. :) It is difficult to find used. Good to know the resale price is still high, even though I will be keeping mine. I did join the yahoo group and am waiting to be approved for the buy/sell group, but I'm thinking we'll just be buying new.
  5. This Momentary Marriage by John Piper is a book I've seen most recently. Highly recommended to me and from the exerts I see from it, it is excellent and truthful about what marriage truly is. (and it's not about us.) ;) http://www.amazon.com/This-Momentary-Marriage-Parable-Permanence/dp/1433507129
  6. I would love to buy it used, but I am having no luck finding any! Noone locally is responding to my WTB requests on my support group loop. The homeschool store only has bits and pieces, if they have anything. It goes fast if one is traded in. I've looked on veg source and just a simple google search for used. Nothing. I need the combo A. Ho-hum. So, my plan B is to find something else, even though I don't want to. I'll just save for IEW and buy it later if I can't find it used. Thanks for the offer of B and C, though.
  7. Bummer, sure would be nice to get a little something... thanks.
  8. I should say that I really, really, really want to use the IEW writing program, but the cost right now is just too much to swallow. What are other similar (DVD instruction would be great!), reputable and effective programs out there?
  9. Thanks. Does anyone know if they give discounts if you buy from them at a homeschool conference?
  10. I answered my own question. I called Queen and they said that the Manners book does not have lines included. Just fyi...
  11. Do you know if the Manners copywork book has lines for copying included in it or do the students have to write their copywork on a seperate piece of paper? I was confused on the website because the Manners book was not included at the top of the list in the explanation of the boys and girls copywork books, which include the lines for copying.
  12. Those are very pretty! I'll see how the one I bought works out and keep this place in mind. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Well, I ended up buying this one tonight. I loved the one from Nordstrom's, but the price was too high for me. I googled the material type, though, and found the Wintersilks site. I hope it's not going to be too heavy and hot. Guess I'll find out. It was on sale and I also found a coupon code on Retail Me Not for 20% which took care of my shipping and there was no sales tax, so I paid the actual price of $59 only. DH was happy. :)
  14. http://www.wintersilks.com/viewproduct.aspx?BRANCH=3~28~&ProductDisplayID=2973 This one is nice. I would like a more basic color, but hey, I might just have to take what I can get at this point. $58 is better.
  15. I think Overstock came up in my search, but there were SO many to look at, the few I saw were not the color I wanted and maybe also a strange mid length instead of long? I can't remember. I've looked at so many! I thought for sure JCP, Kohl's, Target or something simple like that would have it and I'd be done. Nope. Yes, I think checking back often is a good idea.
  16. I've given up on trying to buy pj's or gowns that are cute, but modest to wear around the house. I wear knit shirts and shorts to sleep in, but I get hot in that as the weather warms up. I also like to wear the short, knit, spaghetti strap comfy gowns, but, I can't walk around the house in them with dc, 11 and 9. Yes, I do get dressed everyday, :001_smile:, but not right away while I wake up and have coffee. Also, I am having a new baby this summer and those gowns will be easy for nursing. So, my solution is to find a long robe, but one that is made of lightweight material (cotton, knit). I've googled and searched online, but not found one that fits what I'm looking for. I didn't think it would be hard to find one, but it seems to be for me.
  17. I have no background in Latin and want it to be semi-independent to independent. I know PL is DVD based and seems obvious to choose because of wanting it independent, but I've heard great things about GSWL, which is also cheaper. :) Can GSWL be independent, but effective without the DVD interaction or is PL really the way I should go?
  18. :lurk5: Working on my online shopping cart at the moment...
