10 Good
  1. Thank you so much for the links!:) Those were the type of things I was looking for. Seterra looked good but my virus software said dangerous? Maybe it was just overreacting. I bookmarked them all and will take a closer look later. Thanks again!
  2. I really want my kids to learn some geography. We just finished 12 weeks of Dance mat typing so we have a little elective time left over each day. I want to do geography. We have Geography Songs but I really just want to teach it for about 12 weeks and then be done with it. Is there anything that a 9 year old and 11 year olds can do online? If you don't know a geography program, any suggestions on what to do for the 12 weeks?:) Thanks Beth
  3. Had to chime in...HS is much cheaper for us. One would be in daycare. I have no idea how much that costs around here but probably at least 75.00 a week. Plus last year, my signature is needs updating.:) I spent 75.00 a week on gas driving them to school and back. This could be avoided if you can stand to put them on the school bus. So we are up to 150.00 a week. Then you have the school lunches. But the thing that I really hated about school was they were ALWAYS after a little more money. I mean there was a fundraiser every week. They were constantly trying to sell stuff to the kids. Mainly junk food at recess. We would get things in their backpacks saying "Help the 6th grade raise money. Buy lemondade at lunch." This was almost every week. Talk about driving me crazy. I know it costs us at least 100.00 a week to send them and that was with just two. This year it would be 3. I do not spend 3500.00 a year on curriculum. :) But I would like to.
  4. Thanks everyone!:) (I am so computer illiterate, I don't know how to do multiple quotes.) I'm going to buy some of the big cans next time I go. I think the peach cobbler would be great! Care to share the recipe you use? Joyfulheart, I don't know how hard the salsa would be, I have extremely limited canning ability. I only have a waterbath canner and it hasn't been used much. :) If the salsa is that awesome though, can you share the recipe too? Unless it is top secret.:) My family does think ketchup is a vegetable side dish, so it might work for us. I didn't even look at the big bags of veggies. I am checking those out next time I go. WeeBeaks, thanks for the reminder, that is certainly true that it is not cheaper if half goes to the chickens.:iagree:
  5. Hi everyone- I was wondering if anybody has any recipes or knows where I could find some using those huge 28oz cans from Sam's? I just got back from there and a huge can of corn was 3.48. That is so much cheaper. I'll tell you the truth though, I didn't buy it because I didn't know what to do with it.:) The had baked beans, green beans, ketchup, crushed tomatos and some others I can't remember in those big cans. Also, what if I divided it up and froze it. Would I kill my whole family? I am trying really hard to stay under 100.00 bucks a week for everthing in the house, including diapers, wipes, cleaning, dog food. Well, you get the picture. Today, I spent 22.00 on dog and cat food and 15.00 on baby wipes, so that only left me with 63.00 for food. :( We have quite a bit in the pantry though, so it will be fine. But please don't worry, I have more money for food if I have too, I just don't want to spend it, KWIM? Trying to stick to a budget.:) Thanks!
  6. :iagree:Yes!!! Thank you, ChristusG and Misty! I really needed the reassurance, because I was afraid I was doing it wrong. I am doing the flashback technique too. I just forgot to right it down in my OP. :) I hope this program works, because its not too hard to implement. :) Thanks again!
  7. Am I doing this right? This is what we are doing, using the cursor, showing one diagraph or sound at a time, he sounds it out and says the word. Sometimes I go pretty fast and just smoothly move the cursor over the word. I don't give a checkmark (or tick) unless he get them all right the first time. Is this all there is to do? Today we read Tim is a Dim Cop. I used the cursor and he only missed two words. Do we get to move on? This program is confusing me a little. Anyone have any advice? Thanks so much. :001_smile:
  8. A little off topic, but I agree about the chickens. I have always raised "Red Star" chicks. They never set on their eggs. I was bragging to my dad that if everything collapsed at least we could have eggs and he said "No we won't, those things can't even reproduce." He was right. I just ordered 25 chicks from breeds that can reproduce themselves. :)
  9. This is not in Little Rock or Hot Springs, but Blanchard Caverns is really neat. Also, google the Ozark Folk Center. My kids thought this was cool too.:001_smile: They are close to the White River and you can trout fish their too. But be warned they don't really have many hotels in this area. :)
  10. I can not believe all the awesome things I discover on this forum. Thank you!!!!:)
  11. That is awesome!!! This is exactly where we are. Stuck in 2nd. I hope our experience is a great as yours. :)
  12. Thanks everyone :) I think we will go with the Dancing Bears. That sentence would be way to hard for him I think. I am so excited about this. I can't wait to get it. I guess there is not a cheaper place to order this?
  13. Hobby lobby sells these for about the same price as amazon. Wait until they have a 40-50% off coupon. That's the best deal I have found.
