  1. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I can't say it enough. Thank you everyone for the wonderful and encouraging posts and advice about homeschooling. I will take everyone's advice and look into some other homeschoolers in our new area of Somerset and get involved and get together. Also look into coop which I believe my kids would love and it would help my son also. I am going to purchase the TWTM book and get reading it. Thanks again everyone.. It is wonderful to be able to share your heart and thoughts and get so many wonderful encouraging advice and help. What a blessing you are all to me. Thanks again. 2. Hello, My family is moving to Somerset,NJ and I am debating if I should continue to homeschool. My heart is tugging at me to homeschool but since at times my son doesn't listen, talks back, seems bored, my husband said that it will be too rough for me and I should send him back to school when we move. I am so torn. Some people have talked to me about K12 program. Not sure really do not know enough about it. My son loves working on the computer. I really want to do what is best for my son(5th grade) and daughter (K). I would love to homeschool and guess I need to read something that would encourage me to homeschool and also find the right curriculum for them so they learn, have fun, enjoy it and do well. I don't want to keep buying and changing curriculum. Just any advice that you can share with me I would so appreciate it. Thanks for listening...Lilly :001_smile:

  4. Hello, I started homeschooling my son 4th grade level at the end of April 2010. I have stopped right now since we are moving and would like to pick up again some classes in August. I currently am using Rod and Staff and would like to change for September. Can anyone share with me as to what book can I read over the summer that would help choose a better curriculum for my son who will be starting 5th grade? I read all about these different curriculums, online and offline and so much to choose from wanted to know what others have used and have used for several years and have seen alot of growth in their children and also their children enjoy it and do not get bored, which is what I see in my son, a little boredom. Thanks and looking forward to reading your different ideas. Thanks!!!:001_smile:
  5. Thanks. I think I will get Missions of Motherhood and Seasons of a Mother's Heart.
  6. Has anyone ever written books as a business while homeschooling their children? If so, how did you do it??? Share with us......:001_smile:

  8. Hello, this past year I used Rod and Staff curriculum for my 4th grade son. For History I used Beautiful Feet( my son had a hard time grasping it), I really wanted to teach him different events in history. My son seems a little bored and was wondering if anyone can share with me if they have a 4th-5th grader which curriculum did or are they using and really love and child always has grown and loved? Just curious. September will be my first complete year of homeschooling and I am excited!!! Thanks:001_smile:
  9. Hello, I am looking for good living books for my 10 year old son that he can read and enjoy and understand. Can you give me some ideas and suggestions. Thanks:001_smile:
  10. thank you so much Jana and Abbeyej. I will definitely take your advice. Usually, when my son teases his sister, we usually take away something he likes, but then he continues and gets upset at us and says we punish him too much which we don't and at times we don't follow through the punishment(which is our fault and we should not do that). Thanks again for your time and advice with the curriculum especially for my son and his reading comprehension problem. thanks again :001_smile::001_smile:
  11. Hello, I have just started homeschooling my 10 year old son and 4 year old daughter. At times my son (10) teases my daughter (4) during the time that I am teaching, which is very frustrating and interrupting. Any suggestions??? Also, what would be a good curriculum for my daughter starting Kindergarten???? What curriculum would you recommend I start with my son, who has trouble with reading comprehension, and when I read out loud to him during science and history he is not understanding it too much. Currently I have been trying Rod and Staff(Math, science, reading, english) Beautiful Feet for history which seems to be over his head and Spelling Power. Any suggestions I am at a lost and am really concern and want the best for my son. Thanks so much for your help and time. Lillian
  12. Has anyone read the book by Sally Clarkson "Ministry of Motherhood". I have been contemplating purchasing it, I would love to read a good parenting book that would help me approach my children (son10, daughter4) in the most loving way and even if they get out of hand(talking back, not listening, misbehaving) I can disciple them as Jesus discipled his followers. I want to read an awesome, encouraging parenting book, so that I can dump all the other books I have. Thanks for your thoughts. Lillian:001_smile:
  13. Hello, Can you share with us your favorite Christian Parenting Book. I have just started homeschooling my 10 year old and 4 year old and wanted to know of a good parenting book to help with different behaviors at home. How to avoid, fix behaviors like teasing younger siblings, interrupting my teaching at home with bathroom breaks, drinking breaks, teasing breaks, talking back, i just don't get it breaks.....being that things are different now that I am homeschooling, I think he believes he can get away with more since he is being homeschooled, which I believe there should not be too much of a difference. The respect should be the same at home as in school. Just wanted to see if others have had similar situations and how some parenting books have helped their homeschooling to go a little smoother especially homeschooling different aged children. Thanks:001_smile:
  14. Hello, I have been reading the Charlotte Mason Companion and also looking at some of the websites recommended. I think my son would benefit from learning this way, especially since he has a tough time with comprehension and reading. All he likes to read are biographies and the Bible. I want him to love reading. Any suggestions on what I should start my son on the better his reading and have him love reading and also understand what he is reading. He is 10 will be 11 next week and he is finishing up 4th grade. Looking forward to reading your thoughts and advice. thanks and have a great evening. Lillian :001_smile:

I have taken my son out of public school about a month ago, I had bought some textbooks and curriculum to catch him up since he was behind (4th Grade) from the public school and not sure if this is the way we should stay especially in the fall.
