I keep getting popups that my antivirus is blocking followed by little popup ads in the bottom corner of my screen almost every time I open a new tab. And here on the forum I have red underlined words with links to ads ( like I can look glamorous with a babe on my hip and make $360/day.)
I've tried running scans, power eraser and I still can't find the stupid thing. :cursing:
I'd love some ideas to try. I know this board has some varied and amazing talents. Is this one of them? (looking for a begging and pleading emoticon, but not finding any).

My understanding is that you don't have choice. :confused1: I'd love to hear that I'm wrong though. I was planning to sign up after Christmas. Hulu isn't available here either.

We switched to Saxon Math after Singapore. It was a nice change. We had to step up a couple levels, though. I think my dd went from Singapore 6 into Algebra 1/2, and ds went from Singapore 5 into Saxon 8/7.
Saxon has quite a bit of repetition built into the lessons, which is a nice change from Singapore, and it is a gentle approach. Seems a lot easier than Singapore. It's giving my dc confidence in their math. I don't have them do all the problems for each lesson.
:iagree: We've done a similar switch. We've found that the time required has gone up from 1/2 hour/day to 1 hour +, so we've slowed down to about 4 lessons per week. Since ds is 11, I'm not concerned. For fun, this week we've done AOPS which he's enjoying.
I used NEM with my older sons, but found that they needed more review than they were getting.

Umm. Some of us don't know your last name.

I would either take the placement tests, or, more likely just start with 300 level. Those diacritical marks show up from time to time, but you could either skip them, or give a quick tutorial on them. They will disappear as they advance.

That's all.

This makes VF look like a kid's club.

This group appears to be the "radical fringe". There aren't too many groups that could spark protests at the embassy in Israel.

I haven't read these so I don't know the details in them, but here's a link to more info on the Lev Tahor sect from the Times of Israel.

I figured the schooling issue would come up. I also have wondered how C-K CAS would cope with large scale investigations. I don't blame them for leaving PQ, but I can see this turning into a big issue here, too. I thought the comparison to "taliban" in some local reports rather inflammatory.
I'm from this area myself and spending the weekend with a C-K resident who's quite negative about the Mennonite's private schools. I'm expecting quite the conversation.
I'm sorry you're having to deal with the fallout from this.

I've never seen it cheaper. I almost always buy it directly from CLP. I've bought some bits from Rainbow Resource just so I don't have to pay shipping.

Being able to draw out or picture a problem, can be very helpful. I have guys who don't tend to need the models, but I do work with them to learn how to draw them out because as the problems get trickier, they will come in useful. This is the same idea as writing out your work in incremental steps. You may know how to do a problem mentally today, but tomorrow's problem may be more difficult and you need to know how to write it out. You want to learn on the easy problems. I also tell them that doing the steps and the model prevent computation mistakes as the math gets harder.
That said, there's more than one way to diagram a problem. If he has a different way that makes sense, I'd leave it.
I had my advanced functions guy drawing out problems today. No, not bar models, but graphing pictures nevertheless.

Yep. I'm another one that has. For years, my dh worked hard in his business, and I split and carried the wood. Now I don't often because I have four strong young men that do most of the splitting. I've started carrying the wood again as a form of excercise.

I voted no, but I need to qualify that. We have free organic eggs that come straight from the barn. Since I get them a flat at a time, and we have a small fridge, I usually can't fit them in. A flat rarely lasts more than 4-5 days so they're still waaay fresher than store bought.
I refrigerate store bought eggs on the rare occasion we have them.

Six year olds are still learning to be responsible for things. I'd let the watch be a lesson in learning. At 6, he can just do without. I would focus more on teaching him to account for his things, take only what he needs and ask him if he has everything he came with as you leave places rather than use punitive action. It's very easy for even a adult to forget a jacket when the weather is warm.
Now, my teens know that if they lose something, they replace it or do without.

I found the markings distracting. I do some of the major ones in my Bible, and the conclusions, lessons for life, and overview in my Bible though. It's enough to remind me of what I've learned without the work of all those little colours.

I know what you're saying. I have a younger child that will be taking the course next year. I don't think he's mature enough for it yet or I'd have them do it together. That will double the cost unless I can come up with a creative idea.
I know I want the new edition for Earth Science.

We're planning to use this after Christmas with the online option - hopefully at the $99 sale in December. Funny, the online will cost about $150 with a new text, or I can spend $200 on a complete set.
For the science 5 and 6, we found the activity manuals set the schedule quite nicely, but I see 7 is different.

We're planning on buying the online option when it comes on sale in December (at least I expect it will). I figure it will cost about $160 for the online course including a text - less if I can find a used one- and slightly over $200 to buy the whole kit new without the online lessons. The one hitch is that the book is changing, and it will cost more for a new text for my youngest to take the course. I just don't think he's mature enough to have him take it with his older brother.
For science 5 and 6, I found that the activity manual was enough, but I see the format changes for 7.

One thing that I found with my youngers was that they spent more time playing with their older siblings and didn't seem to need toys as much.
That said, I kept the best, sturdiest toys to keep and thinned down the rest severely. I've never regretted it. They still got gifts for birthdays and Christmases to add to the basics from the olders.
I have the belief that I'd rather see stuff used and "worn out than to rust out."

Sunglasses, the car's visor, sitting really, really high and as a last resort, my hand. I agree that it can be dangerous at times. I find this to be one of the most stressful driving conditions - right up there with rain at night and driving snow - except that cyclists and pedestrians aren't around for those.

We went to the Niagara Falls one several years ago. It was one of the larger ones then. We thought the food was expensive and brought breakfast and lunch. The guys loved the waterpark. Since then we've gone to Kalahari in Sandusky a couple of times, mostly because it's cheaper and has some rides that the older guys prefer. The youngers liked GWL better. We were told the Sandusky GWL was quite a bit smaller than Niagara.

Here in Ontario, the main impetus for background checks has been insurance requirements, but I would seriously expect it of any church anyways. In our church if anyone is considered a sketchy person, they don't help even with a check. We also expect people to attend for at least 6 months before helping anywhere. This give us time to get to know them and to weed out obviously unstable people.
That said, I was able to allow some helpers for VBS this year whose checks were "in process". We knew them and they were still subject to the 2 deep rule as were those with criminal checks.
Unfortuately, even checks don't screen out all predators. We had a fellow a couple of years ago, who could pass a check, but we didn't trust and didn't allow him with children in a formal capacity and who did allegedly molest a girl (not a church kid). After he was charged, he was not allowed on church property without a personal escort.

Maybe anyone who recognized you was turned into stone.

I thought Norton did this. I've never had any problems until about 3 days ago. Wouldn't have been so bad, but our other PC just died of a virus (don't ask).
They show up in chrome which I usually use, and firefox.
